#MAGFAB: Daniel Kaluuya for Essence Magazine - Digital Cover 2022
Daniel Kaluuya and Jordan Peele have once again reunited — not just for the upcoming horror film Nope, but in conversation for the July digital cover of ESSENCE.
Peele interviewed Kaluuya, their latest cover star, on the heels of the release of their new movie, in theaters July 22, and the British actor revealed aspects of his professional journey he’s never shared before, not even with Peele, whom he collaborated with in his breakout role in Get Out.
“I’ve never told you this, but when you reached out to me and we had that Skype, I was really disillusioned with acting. I had stopped acting for like a year and a half,” Kaluuya shared. “I checked out, because I was just like, this isn’t working. I wasn’t getting roles, because racism and all this kind of stuff—so you reaching out was like, Okay, I’m not crazy. It’s proper. It’s going to be all right.”
Affirming Kaluuya’s experience, Peele spoke to a revelation he had while casting for his directorial debut. “It’s wild because even while making a movie in 2016, we were looking for a lead Black actor and realized there’s not a lot who have been given opportunities to be the lead of a film,” he said. “I was just so thrilled to realize what the rest of the world considers a very small pool. I had at least one of the best actors I’d ever seen in my movie, and from the very beginning I was like, this is how—when you have a script that’s good, and you get an actor like this, who has done work but has untapped potential and an untapped trust put into him—you get something special.”
Getting roles became far less of an issue for Kaluuya after Get Out for which he earned an Oscar nomination for Best Actor (he would later win this award for his role as Fred Hampton in Judas and the Black Messiah). But as his star power rose, the Academy Award winner noticed a difference in how fame and talent are viewed in the United States versus the United Kingdom.
“In England it’s about what you do. In America they have to buy into who you are, in order for people to really get behind you and watch your stuff,” he explained.
Daniel Kaluuya On Almost Quitting Acting And Not Being Guarded
“It’s something I learned on the press run for Judas and the Black Messiah. A lot of times people think I’m guarded, but I’m just new. I’m in a new country. Then, when I was being more open, people were talking to me about the interviews—and I’m like, Why are you talking about the interviews? They weren’t talking about the film. In England you don’t root for people the same way. In America it’s like, ‘Oh, that’s my guy. He’s got my perspective. Or she’s got my perspective. Cool, I’m rolling with them.’ In England it’s about talent, and I think in America it’s about the character of a person.”
Sharing that he’s followed Kaluuya’s career since first working together in 2016, Peele spoke to his wisdom in choosing to play certain characters, including OJ Haywood in the forthcoming Nope. “It seems like after that project, you came with a real intention about how you wanted to shape your career,” Peele stated to which Kaluuya responded in the affirmative.
Daniel Kaluuya On Almost Quitting Acting And Not Being Guarded
“I was just like, If it’s not a ‘Fuck yeah,’ it’s a no. That kind of cleaned house,” he said. “A ‘Fuck yeah’ to me is when you’re doing plays, you’re doing it for 400 pound a week. That’s pre-agent, pre-tax, pre-everything. So I was like, Would I do this for 400 pound a week? And if the answer was yes, then all right, cool, I’ll do it.”
Speaking further to how he chooses roles, Kaluuya added, “I want to go into places that I don’t know I can. I want three-dimensional characters. I want to tell the story, no matter how big or how small. In Widows, I’m not in the film that much, but my character had an arc—he had a story and an evolution. As long as that’s there, then I can engage with it.”

#RHOA: Kenya Moore Regrets 'RHOA' Drama With Kim Fields: 'I Wasn't Being Very Nice'
American actress, singer and director Kenya Moore appears to not be happy with her behavior toward Kim Fields when the latter was her co-star on The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
Most of the time, the former Miss USA always does exactly what she wants, even if it doesn't showcase her in the most positive light. Recently, Moore expressed feeling bad about one situation that she was involved in. During Season 7 of the show, Moore clashed with Living Single star Kim Fields. Moore regrets the situation and feels she could have handled it better.
During a heated argument, Moore went as far as pulling Fields’ chair out from the table to get her to leave. Moore admits she was wrong, and the situation could have escalated. Moore did apologize on that season’s reunion show.
In a recent chat, Moore expanded. “She’s right. I was disrespecting her space. But I was just helping her see her way out.”
Moore also added that she hates to see the clip. “I don’t like this clip,” she said. “I wasn’t being very nice.”

#MusicNews: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band Announce 2023 North American Tour
Bruce Springsteen has announced the dates for his long-awaited 2023 North American tour with the E Street Band. It kicks off on Feb. 1 in Tampa, Florida, and wraps up on April 14 in Newark, New Jersey. Ticket sales begin July 20.
Springsteen last played a concert with the E Street Band when their River tour wrapped up on Feb. 25, 2017, at Mt. Smart Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand. But they haven’t played in North America since September 2016, and their sole live performance of any sort in the past five years took place in 2020 when they did two songs on Saturday Night Live to promote Letter To You. This has been their longest period of time off from the road since Springsteen reunited with the band in 1999 following an 11-year hiatus where he toured both solo and with another backing group.
They were originally slated to hit the road in 2020 to support Letter To You, and dates were later penciled in for 2022, but the pandemic forced them to ultimately delay the tour until 2023. “I’m just aching to play,” Springsteen told SiriusXM’s E Street Radio earlier this year. “Not just play but to travel and see our fans in all those distant cities.”
In that same interview, he said the tour would be a mixture of classics and selections from his newer albums. “it will have a significant amount of some recent material, and then, of course, we’ll play a lot of the music that fans have become familiar with and love to hear,” he said. “It should be a balance… the show should feel contemporary, and it should also make you feel at home at the same time.”
That doesn’t mean he’ll attempt to play many songs from Western Stars. “I’d like to keep it a rock show,” he said. “Once you’re out in an arena or stadium, people have come to see a rock ‘n’ roll show… But you never know, something may squeak in there from that record. It’s not impossible. That one, I’m gonna have to wait and see.”
The tour heads to Europe for a run of stadium shows that run from April 28 through July 25. It then heads back to America for a late summer/early fall stadium run, though those dates have yet to be announced.

#HipHopNews: Cardi B Drops 'Hot Sh*T' Video With Kanye West And Lil Durk
After dropping the song earlier this month, the Grammy-winning rapper unveils the explosive visual for her collaboration with Kanye West and Lil Durk.
In the special effects clip, directed by Lado Kvataniya, Cardi stuns in a series of futuristic looks while defying gravity and towering over a skyscraper in New York City. Durk delivers his verse under a bridge before meeting up with Cardi in the desert. Ye also brings the fire, donning a masked disguise while splashing through the water in his sunset-soaked scene.

The big-budget video was shot back in March, but was delayed due to technical issues.
“This video has brought me so much drama,” Cardi told Apple Music. “This is my first time trying CGI. It was something very different for me. I couldn’t maneuver or move how I wanted to, because I was very confused. After I finished the video, I find out that this sh*t takes so long… It’s an amazing video, but it’s just really fu**ing… I would never do CGI again, ever, ever, ever again.”
This was also her first time working with Ye. “I had a lot of conversations with Kanye West,” she recalled. “I learned so much about him and he’s such an amazing, sweet person. I’ve been feeling like, I wish a lot of people have conversations with him so they could just see the real…the him.”
“Hot Shit,” which debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, is set to appear on Cardi’s long-awaited sophomore album, the follow-up to her 2018 debut Invasion of Privacy. And she doesn’t plan on letting up anytime soon, telling Vogue Singapore that her next single and album will drop in “a month or two.”
Quinta Brunson Becomes The First Black Woman To Receive Three Comedy Emmy Nominations For “Abbott Elementary”
Actress and comedian Quinta Brunson has just become the first Black woman to earn three nominations in the comedy categories in the same year. She is nominated for outstanding comedy series, lead actress in a comedy and writing for a comedy series.
As 32-years-old, Quinta is also the youngest Black woman ever nominated in the comedy acting category.
A statement was released from the “Abbott Elementary” actress right after it was announced, where she said:
“What an honor to be nominated by the Television Academy. Creating this show has been the greatest gift and to have it recognized in this way is the dream. It’s a joy we get to share with the amazing people who watched our first season.”
“None of this would be possible without my incredible, supportive EP’s Justin Halpern, Randall Einhorn & Patrick Schumacker, our incredible writers room, our insanely talented cast, and the hard-working teams at ABC and WBTV for helping to bring ‘Abbott Elementary’ to life.”
“Lastly, and most importantly, I want to thank teachers. Thanks for being our inspiration.”
Her “Abbott Elementary” co-stars – Sheryl Lee Ralph and Tyler James Williams both received their first Emmy nominations for their roles.
The categories – lead actress in a comedy and writing for a comedy series, have only had one Black woman winner each in the Emmys’ entire 74-year history. Isabel Sanford won in 1981 for “The Jeffersons” and Lena Waithe in 2017 for Netflix’s “Master of None.”
In 2020, history was made with the first two Black women nominated for both comedy series and lead actress in a comedy – Issa Rae for “Insecure” and Tracee Ellis Ross for “Black-ish.” Issa Rae was nominated again for lead actress this year, as well.
NeNe Leakes Has A Cryptic Response To Reality Star Bethenny Frankel Landing A New Show
Reality star NeNe Leakes says she is not surprised that fellow former housewife Bethenny Frankel has landed a new show on CNBC Prime network.
As previously reported, “Real Housewives Of Atlanta” alum NeNe Leakes, accused her former boss Andy Cohen and TV network home Bravo, of allegedly having her “blacklisted” and turning “every network” against her.
NeNe Leakes’ vocalized claims comes amid the lawsuit she put out against Andy Cohen and other parties behind “RHOA.” NeNe, 54, is suing the TV host and the network for “the retaliatory, discriminatory and harassing treatment” she endured during her time on the Bravo series.
On July 11, “Real Housewives Of New York” alum Bethenny Frankel announced she would be joining “Shark Tank’s” Kevin O’Leary for the second season of CNBC’s “Money Court.” According to reports, the series will see the co-hosts use their business expertise to help other business owners settle financial issues and disputes.
As a reaction to Bethenny Frankel’s new business opportunity, NeNe let off a response via an IG comment under the post and wrote:“Am not surprised.”
Last month, news broke that ex “RHONY” star Bethenny, 51, won MTV’s newest award, Unscripted Reality Royalty Queen for this year’s MTV Movie & TV Awards. As a result, MTV faced mixed reactions from fans following the crowning of “reality royalty” being given to Bethenny instead of NeNe. When asked how she felt about not receiving the award, NeNe said:
“I mean I don’t know….You know Bethenny definitely did a lot of great things in New York city for that franchise….Just keeping it real, she definitely didn’t do as much as I did. Just for real.”
What do you think about NeNe Leakes comment?
‘Cheer’ Star Jerry Harris Must Register As a Sex Offender After Prison
‘Cheer’ star Jerry Harris has been ordered to register as a sex offender following the end of his 12-year prison sentence for sex crimes involving minors.
In the judgment obtained by Page Six, the former Navarro cheerleader will also be required to participate in a sex offender treatment program and cannot come in contact with any of the minors involved in the case.
Additionally, Harris, 22, has to sign up for a mental health treatment program and take any medications prescribed.
Last week, the Netflix star was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of traveling with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.
During his sentencing, he told the court he regretted his decisions and apologized to the victims.
He added, “I am ashamed as I know that I took advantage of your youth and weakness. I was wrong and selfish. I caused you harm and I do not blame anyone.”
Harris was arrested back in September 2020after the FBI raided his Naperville, Ill. home and charged him with producing child pornography. He had also allegedly solicited sex from minorsat cheerleading competitions and coerced teen boys to send him inappropriate pictures.
In February 2022, he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting one boy, 15, and paying another, 17, to send him sexually explicit photos and videos.
The popular Netflix show followed the Navarro College cheerleading squad’s journey to competitions and even addressed Harris’ arrest in the second season.
Cheer coach Monica Aldama said in the show that Harris wrote her a letter expressing his desire to become a motivational speaker.
“I want to be supportive,” Almada explained, “Yet I’m so disappointed…I have all these emotions that are just fighting each other.”

Chadwick Boseman receives posthumous Emmy nomination
The Primetime Emmy nominations are in, and the Television Academy honored Chadwick Boseman with a nod in the Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance category. Boseman is nominated for his work as T’Challa’s Star-Lord in episode 2 of the Disney+ and Marvel Studios animated series, “What If…?” The anthology marks Marvel’s first animated series, and it explores alternate timelines in the multiverse that show “what if” significant moments from the MCU films occurred differently.
Norman MacDonald and Jessica Walter join the late actor on the list of posthumous nominations for their work in the Netflix stand-up show “Nothing Special” and FX’s “Archer,” respectively. Boseman is up against his co-star, Jeffrey Wright, who played The Watcher in episode 8. The complete list of nominees for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance includes F. Murray Abraham (“Moon Knight”), Julie Andrews (“Bridgerton”), Maya Rudolph (“Big Mouth”), Stanley Tucci (“Central Park”), and Jessica Walter (“Archer”).
This recognition marks the Black Panther star’s second posthumous award nomination. Boseman was historically nominated for Best Actor by the Recording Academy for his performance in George C. Wolfe’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom alongside Viola Davis. Anthony Hopkins ultimately took home the Oscar for his role in The Father.
Boseman passed away from colon cancer in August 2020 at 43. But his legacy will live on forever through the beloved Black Panther superhero. MCU is gearing up to release the upcoming sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The first installment was the second-highest-grossing solo film and the first superhero movie to be nominated for Best Picture. Black Panther won Oscars for Best Production Design, Best Costumes, and Original Score.
Fans are wondering if writers will replace T’Challa with another actor or if the storyline will completely change. Reports suggest that Wakanda and its relationship to the rest of the world will be examined. Letitia Wright and Danai Gurira are reprising their leading roles; meanwhile, Michael B. Jordan has been coy about his return. Director Ryan Coogler is set to helm the follow-up film and has been tight-lipped about the plot details. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will premiere in theaters on Friday, November 11.
WNBA shows support for Brittney Griner during All-Star game
Over the weekend, the WNBA All-Star game took place in Chicago. As all eyes were on the best of the best, Brittney Griner’s teammates used that opportunity to raise awareness for the detained athlete. As previously reported by REVOLT, the Olympian has been in Russian custody since Feb. 17 for illegally traveling through an airport with a vape cartridge containing cannabis oil.
After a series of detainment extensions from Russian officials, it became apparent that the Phoenix Mercury center would not be back in time to join her teammates on the court. On June 22, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert discussed the organization’s decision to name Griner an honorary All-Star for this year’s game. “During each season of Brittney’s career in which there has been an All-Star Game, she has been selected as an All-Star … So it is only fitting that she be named as an honorary starter today and we continue to work on her safe return to the U.S.,” Engelbert said.
On Sunday (July 10), Griner’s teammates wore jerseys with her name and number for all to see. Twelve-time WNBA All-Star Sue Bird told reporters, “Yeah, every now and then we’ll answer questions about All-Star and talk about basketball, but you’re going to see her name on the back of all of our shirts.” She continued, “We want it to always be there.” Griner’s name and number were also on the basketball court.
Dallas Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale said, “We have Brittney Griner masks, we have 42 on our shirts and I’m sure the rest of the league and people are wearing things with BG.” Engelbert joined in, adding, “She remains a huge priority for us, [and] continues to have our full support.” Many have called for the athlete’s release, including high-profile names like Roy Jones Jr. and Carmelo Anthony. Last week, Chris Brown spoke about her case, noting things would be different if she were a man. “If this was a male star athlete yall would be way more vocal and helpful. That shit lame as fuck. I wish I could really help her out,” he said in an Instagram Story post.
On July 7, Griner pleaded guilty. “I’d like to plead guilty, your honor. But there was no intent. I didn’t want to break the law. I was in a rush packing and the cartridges accidentally ended up in my bag,” the athlete said in Russian court. She will remain in custody for at least another six months and could face 10 years in prison.
Andy Cohen Reacts To Jen Shah Pleading Guilty to Fraud
Andy Cohen is opening up for the first time since Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah plead guilty in her fraud case.
If you missed it, Jen admitted that she was guilty and knowingly mislead victims in the telemarketing scheme.
Now, Andy is opening up about her plea change.
While in conversation with Jonah Hill on his SiriusXM radio show, Andy opened up about what will happen from here and whether or not he believes her.
“I don’t know how to feel about this, Jen Shah pleading guilty,” Andy told Jonah, who then countered back, “Right, well, when you say you’re guilty of something, it maybe means you’re guilty.”
Andy then corrected him, stating that “all it means is she’s changing her plea.”
He says that he feels conflicted about Jen‘s guilty plea because he’s grown close to her, and she even sent him a gift for the birth of his second child, Lucy.
“I was like, ‘Jen Shah, with everything you have going on, that you thought to send to send Lucy a gift…,’” he said. “I just thought that was so nice of her.”
“I’ll say that about Jen Shah — at least she’s honest,” Jonah added.
Jane Lynch Reacts to Lea Michele 'Funny Girl' Broadway Casting, Explains Why They Won't Be Working Together
“We have been in touch about it,” Jane revealed to Deadline, confirming she’s talked to Lea already.
“You know, it was just a really strong idea to have Feldshuh and Lea premiere together. That’s the only reason [we won’t appear together.] I adore her. She’s just going to take this show and make it her own. I’m so glad she’s getting the opportunity in real life to do the show and not just on Glee.”
Find out what Lea Michele said about her upcoming debut in the show.
Bradley Cooper Has Been Quietly Dating Huma Abedin for the Past Few Months
Anew Hollywood couple has emerged in the form of Bradley Cooper and Huma Abedin, reports claim.
Cooper and Abedin have maintained an ultra-private romance for the past few months, according to a Page Six source. "Bradley has been quietly dating Huma for a few months now, they've been keeping it really quiet," the insider said, adding that the Star Is Born actor broke up with former Glee star Dianna Agron prior to dating Abedin.
Abedin, a former aide to Hillary Clinton, is currently in the final stages of her divorce proceedings from Anthony Weiner, the former New York congressional representative who resigned in 2011 after inappropriate messages he sent to young women on Twitter were leaked. In 2017, Weiner pleaded guilty to sending sexually explicit texts to a minor and subsequently was sentenced to 21 months in prison. Abedin filed for divorce from Weiner that year. The two share a son, Jordan Zain Weiner.
"Bradley is a big step up from Anthony Weiner, to say the very least," the source told Page Six.
The insider also explained that Cooper and Abedin share many interests. "They are perfect for each other," the source continued. "They're both into power and politics and human affairs."
So far, the insider said Abedin has only "told a few friends" that she has a "new man," but "she didn't say who it was. She was keeping it very close to her chest."
Abedin opened up about her split from Weiner in a 2021 interview with The Cut.
"I had my heart broken, dragged out, stomped on, humiliated. I lived with shame, in shame, for so long," she said. "On the one hand, you have this person who's making your life so easy. On the other hand, you have this person who's doing these deeply irresponsible things, and what felt to me like very, very selfish things, and taking us down."
Cooper previously dated supermodel Irina Shayk, with whom she shares five-year-old daughter Lea, for four years.
T-Pain Says Chris Brown Suffers From 'Princess Complex'
After Breezy debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 with 72,000 equivalent album units, Chris took to Instagram to call out the lack of support for his 10th studio album.
“SEEMS LIKE YALL ONLY INVEST IN THE NEGATIVE STORIES ABOUT ME,” he wrote in a since-deleted post. “CHRIS GETS IN TROUBLE (THE WHOLE WORLD IS ON IT). Chris drops album [crickets].”
Now T-Pain is weighing in on Chris’ response to the underwhelming sales. When asked by DJ Akademiks about Chris’ “weaker than usual” first-week numbers, T-Pain explained that his “Kiss Kiss” collaborator has been entitled his entire career, a condition he calls the “Princess Complex.”
“That is my motherfu**in’ ni**a, but I know what his faults are,” he said. “The Princess Complex is not only when you get what you want, but you get the accolades of a pretty person for doing absolutely fu**ing nothing, and just being pretty.”
He continued, “The second that the first real motherfu**er comes to you and says, ‘Hey, you ain’t that fu**in’ pretty,’ it’s over. Breakdown, Twitter outrage, everything.”
According to T-Pain, Chris has become accustomed to putting up big numbers, so when he falls short, he deflects on others. “There’s a little princess aspect to it to where it’s like, ‘What the f**k are y’all doing, I’m supposed to be famous. Y’all supposed to be my fans.'”
T-Pain went on to say that Chris should take accountability rather than play the blame game. “It’s never going to be, ‘What the f**k is wrong with me, or what do I need to change, or how can I approach this differently?'”
“Every time he drop, it’s always gone really fu**ing good. Every fu**ing time,” he added. “So now it’s like, y’all must have done something wrong because I’ve done the same thing that I’ve done every time… ‘Cause it ain’t me. I know what I’m doing. I’m fu**in’ Chris Brown.”
Chris has not responded to T-Pain’s comments, but he previously shared a cryptic message with fans, writing, “I’m back on my gangsta shit. It’s BRACKIN at all times.”

Judge Rules Subway Can Be Sued Over Allegedly Deceiving Customers About Its ‘100% Tuna’
A federal judge recently ruled on July 7 that the sandwich chain can be sued for allegedly misleading customers by characterizing its tuna products as made with “100% tuna.”
As first announced by NBC News, Judge Jon Tigar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California agreed on the ruling last Thursday in response to lawsuits brought forth in 2021 two residents of Oakland, California. Subway has responded to these allegations by saying any non-tuna product found in its tuna products would most likely be the result of cross-contamination while the sandwich is being prepared by staff.
In a statement to TODAY, a Subway spokesperson said, “Subway serves 100% tuna. We are disappointed the Court felt it couldn’t dismiss the plaintiffs’ reckless and improper lawsuit at this stage. However, we are confident that Subway will prevail when the Court has an opportunity to consider all the evidence. To learn more about Subway’s real wild-caught tuna, please visit SubwayTunaFacts.com.”
As previously reported, In January 2021, Dhanowa and Amin accused Subway of selling customers tuna sandwiches that “partially or wholly lack tuna as an ingredient.” Dhanowa and Amin’s complaint claimed to represent customers of the franchise who purchased tuna sandwiches that “entirely lack any trace of tuna as a component, let alone the main or predominant ingredient.”
At the time, a Subway spokesperson told TODAY, “There simply is no truth to the allegations in the complaint that was filed in California. Subway delivers 100% cooked tuna to its restaurants, which is mixed with mayonnaise and used in freshly made sandwiches, wraps, and salads that are served to and enjoyed by our guests.”
The site still claims that the tuna sandwich is “a favorite among sub lovers” and that its “tuna is and has always been high-quality premium, and 100% real.”
However, Judge Tigar’s ruling said the fishiness of Subway’s “100% tuna” claim can be misleading for unsuspecting customers.
Kanye West Unfollows Nicki Minaj On Instagram Following ‘Clown’ Remark At Essence Festival
It appears as if Nicki Minaj’s friendship with Kanye West has fizzled out, as the latter has seemingly unfollowed the “Hard White” rapper on Instagram. Fans noticed Kanye was no longer following Nicki on Monday, which many fans on social media believe is linked to her recent performance at the Essence Festival of Culture.
During Nicki’s headlining set, her DJ began playing “Monster,” lifted off Kanye’s 2010 album, “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,” on which Nicki is featured on. Before the track could even get to her verse, she cut the performance short as she told the crowd, “I’m ‘Monster’-ed out, and we don’t f–k with clowns,” before changing the topic to “give a shout-out to New Orleans.” It was just in February when Nicki opened up on how she felt upon finding out her previous collaboration with Kanye on the song “New Body” had been shelved — a track she called “the hit that got away.” She explained that “New Body” was not officially released as Kanye had turned his attention to creating gospel music at the time.
“So what I thought was interesting was that Kanye made me write my ‘New Body’ verse four times over in order to fit into where he was creatively and spiritually in his life,” she told Hot 106. “Only then do I go on the internet a few months later to see him on Drink Champs, rolling a blunt and smoking or whatever he was doing.”
“The public adored ‘New Body.’ Like, ‘New Body’ was the biggest hit record that never came out. Had ‘New Body’ been out when he was not in his gospel era, then it would’ve seen the light of day. But, it didn’t, so it wasn’t meant to be. Everybody knows that was the hit that got away.”
Some fans have speculated whether Nicki’s comments seemingly aimed at Kanye had anything to do with the release of Cardi B’s latest singe “Hot S***,” which features Kanye and Lil Durk. Of course, this is nothing more than fan speculation on social media, but the timeline of recent incidents and remarks would strongly suggest the “clown” remark may have been in response to Kanye working with the “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker.
Meanwhile, a judge ruled Nicki’s husband Kenneth Petty face one year of house arrest after failing to register as a sex offender when they relocated to Los Angeles. His guilty plea landed him the aforementioned sentence, after having faced up to 10 years in prison for what Kenneth claims to have been a mishap in his filed court docs.
Regardless of whether Kenneth had forgotten to register as a sex offender in California, the judge also ordered him to pay a fine of $55,000 along with three years of probation, according to the US Attorney’s Office via CBS Los Angeles.
Phoebe Robinson wants to date Michael B. Jordan: I know you’re available
Actress Phoebe Robinson is shooting her shot with Michael B. Jordan.
“Michael B. Jordan, listen, I know you’re available,” Robinson joked to Page Six at the premiere of Freeform’s “Everything’s Trash” on Monday.
The comedian, 37, added that people actually encouraged her to reach out to him after his split from Lori Harvey, but she didn’t have his number.
“So I’m doing it here, Michael!” she expressed.
Robinson remained tight-lipped about her current relationship status but said she was “happy to be out in these streets again” after the COVID-19 lockdown
The “2 Dope Queens” star previously dated Luke Downs, whom she met at a U2 concert in 2017. However, the couple hasn’t posted each other on Instagram since February 2021.
Meanwhile, Jordan, 35, and Harvey, 25, broke up in June after almost two years of dating.
Despite scrubbing their Instagrams clean of each other after the split, the former couple has kept matters private. But that didn’t stop Harvey’s dad, Steve Harvey, from commenting on the split.
“I wish them well. I’m Team Lori, 1,000 percent. She’s my daughter. I love her. I support her,” the “Family Feud” host, 65, said on his morning radio show on June 6.
“He’s still a cool guy, you know, from what I know. It’s a breakup. I’m pretty sure they’ll be fine. People break up all the time.”
The “Creed” actor and model began dating in the fall of 2020 and went Instagram-official in January 2021.
Beyond her love life, Robinson told us that she’s transitioned from aspiring to be the “Nordstrom Rack version of Oprah [Winfrey]” to a “KMart Zendaya” as she hopes to win an Emmy like the “Euphoria” star.
She also spent the last three years working on her new sitcom, which was inspired by her book “Everything’s Trash, But It’s OK”.
Liza Minnelli wows crowd at recent surprise concert appearance
It’s Liza with a “Z,” not Lisa with an “S” and Liza Minnelli was back to her old self at a surprise appearance at longtime pal Michael Feinstein’s concert at the Arboretum in LA on Saturday.
Unlike her wheelchair-bound appearance at the Oscars this year, Minnelli walked out onstage and “was very coherent and in good spirits,” a concertgoer told Page Six.
Minnelli even got the director’s chair she was promised at the Academy Awards. She was escorted onstage to the chair and dazzled in a black sequined blouse paired with a red scarf.
A source close to Minnelli told Page Six “she wanted to be there to support her friend. She wanted to celebrate him.”
“I’m so excited. I haven’t been out here in so long. I love you. Thank you for all the years of joy that you brought me,” Minnelli told the crowd before joining Feinstein for a rendition of “Our Love is Here to Stay.”
Feinstein revealed to SiriusXM’s Jess Cagle that Minnelli was initially supposed to appear onstage at the Oscars sitting in director’s chair, but plans were scrapped at the last minute.
Feinstein alleged that Minnelli had “only agreed to appear on the Oscars if she would be in the director’s chair, ’cause she’s been having back trouble.” He further claimed a stage manager forced her to use a wheelchair five minutes before she was set to appear, and it left her “shaken” and “discombobulated.”
On Saturday, however, Minnelli was in her element singing Gershwin with Feinstein.
After the concert, we hear Minnelli and pals continued the party at Feinstein’s house, where “she sang a couple of songs and reminisced about old times. Everyone was so happy to see her,” an insider shared.

15-Year-Old Faces Murder Charge After Allegedly Fatally Stabbing 14-Year-Old Aspiring Rapper in NYC Subway
A 14-year-old boy was fatally stabbed over the weekend during an alleged altercation with a since-detained 15-year-old in a New York City train station, the New York Post reports.
Ethan Reyes was an aspiring drill rapper who went by the moniker Notti Osama, and had reportedly been embroiled in a feud with the teenager accused of killing him. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Saturday when a fight erupted between the two and spilled into the 137th Street/City College subway station.
Sources close to the NYPD told the Post that Reyes pushed the unnamed teen onto the train tracks during their scuffle. Reyes was eventually stabbed and tried to run away but collapsed on the stairs. Officers saw him bleeding from his stomach and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was ultimately pronounced dead.
Police recovered a knife and broomstick from the scene, and reviewed security footage which provided “clear images” of all parties involved, including the alleged suspect, who was arrested and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon on Sunday. His identity will not be publicly disclosed due to his age.
It’s unclear how exactly the teens’ dispute started.
“We thank NYPD detectives, with whom we cooperated, for the rapid arrest of a suspect,” MTA NYC transit president Richard Davey said in a statement. “That he and the victim are said to have known each other further underscores the senseless nature of this tragic incident.”
The Post reports Reyes’ family moved into their new home in Yonkers in May. His brother is also an aspiring rapper.
Condoleezza Rice Joins Incoming Denver Broncos Ownership Group | WATCH
*(CNN) — Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is joining the new Denver Broncos ownership group, the NFL team announced Monday.
Rice said it was an honor to join the ownership group.
“Football has been an integral part of my life since the moment it was introduced to me, and I am thrilled to be a part of the Broncos organization today.” Rice, the daughter of a football coach, said on Facebook.
She added: “I spent much of my younger years in Denver, so to be able to combine my love of the game with my love for this great city and team is an adventure of a lifetime and a great opportunity.”
Walmart heir Rob Walton called her a highly respected public servant and an accomplished academic and business leader.
“Secretary Rice is well known as a passionate and knowledgeable football fan who has worked to make the sport stronger and better,” Walton said in a statement on behalf of the Walton-Penner family group that has offered to buy the team.
“She moved to Denver with her family when she was 12 years old and went on to attend the University of Denver for both college and graduate school. Her unique experience and extraordinary judgment will be a great benefit to our group and the Broncos organization.”
Denver BroncosLast month, the Broncos and the Walton-Penner family entered into a purchase and sale agreement to acquire the team from the Pat Bowlen Trust. The agreement is subject to approval from the NFL’s finance committee and league ownership.
According to ESPN, the deal is expected to be worth $4.65 billion — a record price tag for a North American sports franchise.
Rice was the national security adviser in the George W. Bush Administration from January 2001 until January 2005, when she became Secretary of State, a position she held until January 2009.
Rice’s name has been linked to football groups before.
In 2018, ESPN reported, citing a league source, that the Cleveland Browns wanted to interview Rice for the head coaching position.
“I love my Browns — and I know they will hire an experienced coach to take us to the next level,” she said on social media. “On a more serious note, I do hope that the NFL will start to bring women into the coaching profession as position coaches and eventually coordinators and head coaches. One doesn’t have to play the game to understand it and motivate players.”
The Browns also denied the report and eventually hired Freddie Kitchens.
In the early 2000s, Rice told the New York Times and several other media outlets her dream job was to be NFL commissioner. She was also on the College Football Playoff Selection Committee for three years beginning with the first group in 2014.
Rice already has a sports ownership stake. Earlier this year, she joined a group of equity partners in the WNBA.
Rice lives in California, where she is the director of the Hoover Institute, a public policy think tank, at Stanford University.
Michael Vick Being Sued for $1.2 Million Over Unpaid Loan
*Former NFL star Michael Vick is being sued for $1.2 million for an unpaid loan.
“The plaintiffs are looking to seize Vick’s assets in an effort to get their compensation,” per Sports Illustrated, including cars, jewelry and memorabilia.
According to the New York Post, Vick and his family have been subpoenaed, with depositions scheduled for Aug. 5.
“Michael Vick takes these matters seriously and is aware of the proceedings and will be sure that all parties who are entitled to receive payment will be paid,” Vick’s lawyer, Arthur Jones, said in a statement to The Herald. “However, usurious calculations which produce absurd results should not be countenanced by the courts of Florida. Therefore, all appropriate defenses will certainly be utilized. Further comment on any shenanigans which lead to situations like this may be made available at a later date.”
Vick declared bankruptcy following his conviction (and NFL suspension) for dogfighting. In 2018, he reportedly received $400,000 in loans which he has allegedly failed to pay back. Per the Post, “a $1.9 million judgment was ultimately handed down in court.”
In related news, we reported previously that Vick agreed to come out of retirement to join the startup league Fan Controlled Football.
Vick was the No. 1 pick in the 2001 NFL draft and he last played in the league in 2015. He was in the prime of his career when he pleaded guilty to his involvement in illegal dog fighting in 2007 and spent nearly two years in prison.
Vick was selected by the Atlanta Falcons with the first pick of the 2001 draft and played with the team for six seasons. After his prison stint, Vick returned in 2009 with the Philadelphia Eagles for five seasons. He went on to serve as backup for the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers. Vick officially retired in 2017 after 13 NFL seasons.
Vick is the latest high-profile player to sign up with Fan Controlled Football after Pro Football Hall of Famer Terrell Owens and Johnny Manziel.

Monty Norman, Famed Composer Behind the “James Bond” Theme, Has Died
“James Bond” lovers are mourning the loss of Monty Norman, the British composer who wrote the theme tune for the beloved movie franchise.
Norman passed away on Monday, July 11th. His official website did not specify how he passed but did confirm that he died “after a short illness.”
The famed composer was born Monty Noserovitch in 1928 and began performing with big bands at age 16. He quickly gained popularity by performing with comedian Benny Hill and went on to write songs for British rock artists Cliff Richard and Tommy Steele.
Producer Albert “Cubby” Broccoli hired him to create the theme for the first James Bond film, “Dr. No,” which debuted in 1962 and starred Sean Connery. Norman meticulously composed the tune with the recognizable rolling phrase, which first appeared as part of a medley during the film’s opening. This crucial piece was based on a song he wrote called “Good Sign, Bad Sign” for a musical version of VS Naipul’s “A House for Mr. Biswas.” John Barry composed a jazz arrangement for the film, leading viewers to mistake Barry as the composer. This led to Norman going on a years-long quest to receive his proper credit.
Norman was previously married to the late actress and singer Diana Coupland before she married her second husband in 1980. He is not known to have children.
He was 94
