#FASHIONFAB: Alexander McQueen FW 2022 Campaign Lensed by Paolo Roversi
British luxury brand Alexander McQueen reveals key images from its Fall 2022 campaign, lensed by esteemed photographer Paolo Roversi [IG], who shot the FW 2021 ANEMONES images. The campaign features models Achenrin Madit, Awar Odhiang, Celina Ralph, Florence Nicholls, Lucia Fairfull, and Wang with art direction by M/M [Paris].
Conceptually, and in Burton’s own words about the show, mycelium is alive and pulsating with life and energy. Yes, we are talking soil and dank earth but that magic of mycelium is the opposite of darkness and sobriety. The fringe in the dress above is much more what AOC expected this collection to be. But in total, there’s a disconnect for AOC with the Alexander McQueen Fall 2022 collection.
Backstage at her New York March 2022 show, Burton was talking about mycelium, the underground fungal network that’s sometimes called nature’s “wood wide web,” connecting trees with one another and transferring nutrients and minerals plant-to-plant.
There’s little in this Fall 2022 campaign that captures any mycelium magic.
Burton was quick to add the element of danger in her fall designs. Yes, mushrooms can be poisonous, so we understand the black widow spider vibe.
But the designer clearly knows that mycelium is conceptually one of the most mentally spiritual and invigorating ideas in our current thinking. Most of the clothes are the opposite of mycelium-design. Burton evidenced her informed thinking about mycelium when she said in March:
“Mycelium connects even the rooftop of the tallest skyscraper to the plants, to the grass, to the ground, to animals and to human beings. Mycelium has the most profound, interconnecting power, relaying messages through a magical underground structure, allowing trees to reach out to each other when either they or their young need help or are sick. The idea is humbling – beautiful – and, of course, a metaphor for interconnection and for community between people, between us all. We exist as single, individual entities on one level, but we are far more powerful connected to each other, to our families, to our friends, to our community.” – Sarah Burton, Alexander McQueen’s creative director
in so many of the clothes could have been disguised in the campaign had it, been inspired by Paolo Roversi’s first campaign in December 2021 for ZARA Atelier 01_ The Coat. Roversi’s Alexander McQueen Fall 2021 images also had much more dimension easily transferred into the world of mycelium and universal interconnectivity.
On a separate note, Burton’s design team is testing mycelium and other new vegan leathers. We do applaud her for using 85% upcycled materials in the fall 2022 collection.
#RHOA: Kandi Burrus Responds To Rumors About Fallout With Carlos King, Season 14 Reunion Clashes
Kandi Burrus has had her share of drama on the current season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta with Marlo Hampton and now Sheree Whitfield. The Kandi & the Gang star reportedly let them both have it at the upcoming reunion special. She addressed the reunion drama in a recent episode of her YouTube series Speak On It, and confirms the longstanding rumor that she had a falling out with former RHOA producer, Carlos King.
Burruss reportedly goes off on Hampton and Whitfield at the reunion
It is rumored that Burrus goes at it with Hampton and Whitfield at the forthcoming reunion. But it’s the back and forth between her and Whitfield that insiders say is the most shocking, and can have a lasting impact. Burruss is said to be fuming over Whitfield consigning many of Hampton’s digs at Burruss’ marriage business and family life.
Burruss says there is no contact between her and King
After the explosive season 9 reunion of Phaedra Parks’ reveal that she was behind the rumor of Burruss wanting to drug and sexually take advantage of Porsha Williams, King exited the show.
Up until now, both have been generally quiet about the aftermath. But when a fan asked Burruss what the status of her relationship is with King, she let it be known it’s nonexistent.
"There is no relationship Chile...we don't have a relationship no more. No," Burruss said of King
Burruss may also be upset over King agreeing with Hampton that she floats through the season and doesn’t work for her peach. In response to Burruss being viewed as boring, she told fans:
“First of all, I’m being me, okay? I’m not giving you no fake drama, I’m not giving you no fake stories, I’m not coming at people with the fake ********. So what you get on the show is me. I’m being myself. Now if I’ve not been in enough mess for you that’s because ain’t enough mess coming at me I guess. I’m not really a person who starts drama with other people. I handle drama when it comes to me.”
Burruss added: “People say they don’t like all the messiness and cattiness and all that stuff, but if you’re not being messy or catty, then they say, ‘Oh, you’re not working for your peach,’ which makes no sense. I’m just gon be me and I’m just gon do me and that’s all I can do.”

The track was produced by Baby Keem, who previously worked with Migos on “We Did It Kid” for Kanye West’s DONDA 2. It arrives along with a video, which was shot at a carnival overseas.
The countdown is now on to Offset’s sophomore solo album, the follow-up to his 2019 debut Father of 4. The 13-track project is expected to include a collaboration with Moneybagg Yo, an unnamed female R&B singer, and possibly even his wife Cardi B.

Meanwhile, the future of Migos remains unclear. Back in May, the trio fueled breakup rumors after they unfollowed each other on Instagram and later pulled out of their performance at the Governors Ball, citing a scheduling conflict. But Quavo was recently seen buying Takeoff a Migos chain for his 28th birthday.
Quavo and Takeoff have been releasing their own music as the duo Unc & Phew. They’ve dropped a pair of tracks so far, “Hotel Lobby” and “Us Vs. Them” featuring Gucci Mane.
Dennis Rodman Says He’s Headed to Russia to Negotiate Brittney Griner’s Release
Dennis Rodman, the Chicago Bulls legend who has become known for meetings with the likes of Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un, says he’s going to Russia to push for Brittney Griner’s release after the WNBA star was sentenced to nine years in prison.
“I got permission to go to Russia to help that girl,” Rodman told NBC News this weekend, not saying exactly who he got permission from. “I’m trying to go this week.”
Rodman, who won five NBA titles with Michael Jordan during the ’90s while building an image as the NBA’s party-loving bad boy, has become known in the past decade for rubbing elbows with political figures that have tense relationships with the U.S. He has spoken in multiple interviews about his personal friendship with North Korea Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un and, in 2018, was present for then President Donald Trump’s meetings with Kim in Singapore. And in 2014, he accepted an invitation by Vladimir Putin to meet in Moscow, later calling the Russian president “cool as f—.”
Now, he is traveling to assist Griner amidst escalating hostility between Russia and the U.S. over Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and the stiff sanctions placed on Russia as a result. Rodman did not specify whether he got permission for the visit from the U.S. State Department, which has issued a travel advisory strongly discouraging Americans from traveling to Russia following the invasion and Griner’s arrest.
Griner was sentenced to nine years in prison in a Russian court earlier this month after pleading guilty to charges of drug possession and smuggling. Griner, who plays for the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA, also plays for the Russian basketball team UMMC Ekaterinburg during the WNBA’s offseason and was arrested in February after she was found at an airport with vaporizer cartridges containing hashish oil.
Griner’s attorneys have appealed her sentence while American and Russian authorities are negotiating a prisoner exchange for Griner and Paul Whelan, an American who was arrested in Russia in 2018 and sentenced to 16 years in prison.
IG Model Claims She’s In A Four Way Relationship With Ne-Yo And His Alleged Mistresses
Earlier this month, Crystal Renay filed divorce documents looking to end her eight-year-long marriage with Ne-Yo after she publicly accused the singer of cheating. Now, some more steamy allegations have surfaced amid their heated split.
According to Its On-Site, over the weekend, a woman identified as @puredominican on Instagram came forth alleging that she was in a four-way relationship with Ne-Yo and three of the singer’s alleged mistresses. In one photo posted to her Instagram Story, the voluptuous model and hairstylist confessed her undying love for the hitmaker, telling her followers how the singer takes “good care” of her and her “babies.”
“I sometimes can’t believe you u got me living my dream life,” she wrote over a photo of herself standing next to a heart-eye emoji. “I would never thought I would be in the arms of the man I was in love with since I was a lil girl. I used to dream [of] kissing those beautiful big lips,” she added.
On Instagram, it appears as though Ne-Yo follows @puredominican, according to screenshots taken by Its On-Site. The media outlet also shared photos of the curvy muse standing next to one of Ne-Yo’s alleged mistresses, and according to the site, a source claimed that all of the singer’s side joints appear to “get along” and refer to themselves as “sister wives.” The media outlet also claimed that they had received “explicit” screenshots allegedly substantiating @puredominican’s claims.
Now, again this is all pure hearsay. Neither Renay nor Ne-Yo have publically addressed the rumor, but a few people online couldn’t help but react to the alleged news.
“So disrespectful to his wife,” one person wrote underneath the post. While another Instagram user chimed in, “This is so sad for all parties involved.”
In her divorce docs filed earlier this month, Renay accused the Grammy award winner of committing “the act of adultery.” She also alleged that the star “fathered a child” with another woman during their marriage. Additionally, Renay claimed that her marriage with Ne-Yo was “irretrievably broken with no hope for reconciliation” due to his alleged infidelity. She also requested for court officials to grant her primary physical custody of their three children in addition to child support and alimony.
Hopefully, this rumor isn’t connected to the couple’s tumultuous split.
HBO Spent Over $100 Million Marketing ‘House of the Dragon’
Ahead of the premiere of the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, the series has already landed HBO’s biggest marketing spending spree ever.
Deadline reports HBO spent over $100 million on House of the Dragon’s marketing campaign, with the majority of that money comprised of a combination of ad spot value and actual cash shelled out.
Pia Barlow, EVP of HBO Originals Marketing, said focus of the network’s marketing campaign was to “galvanize both new and existing fans.”
“The House of the Dragon campaign is really about generating big, broad awareness and interest throughout the summer, but to also make sure we’re signaling to existing fans as well as new fans alike that this is a new Game of Thrones story coming to HBO Max,” Barlow said.
Earlier this week, Warner Bros. Discovery president and CEO David Zaslav congratulated his team ahead of House of the Dragon’s premiere.
“We reached nearly 130 million people in the U.S. alone,” Zaslav wrote in email obtained by the Hollywood Reporter. “It has also been exciting to see teams across the company work collaboratively with the HBO team in what has been an unprecedented cross-promotional campaign. And we’ve done all of this in just a few short months, clearly showing what we can accomplish when our networks, streaming platforms, digital and social channels, all work collectively in support of one shared priority. We can really move the needle and I can’t wait to see what we will do on future campaigns when we harness the full reach and unique opportunities we bring to the table.”
Ally McBeal sequel series in the works featuring a Black female lead
Court could be in session again for Ally McBeal. A sequel to the hit '90s legal dramedy is in the early stages of development at ABC, EW has learned. According Deadline Hollywood, which first reported the news, the sequel will not focus on the original series' title character famously played by Calista Flockhart, but instead will follow a young Black woman who joins Cage and Fish — or whatever its newly revamped equivalent might be — fresh out of law school.
The character is believed to be the daughter of Ally's D.A. roommate Renée Raddick (Lisa Nicole Carson) from the original series, per Deadline. Karin Gist, whose credits include Grey's Anatomy and Mixed-ish, is writing and executive-producing.
EW has reached out to ABC for comment.
Flockhart is said to have been approached to reprise her role in an unknown capacity, as well as to executive-produce the new series, though a deal has not yet been made. Meanwhile, original series creator David E. Kelley has reportedly given his blessing to the sequel but does not plan to be involved.
Ally McBeal ran from 1997 to 2002 on Fox, and followed the loves, losses, and triumphs of the eponymous attorney and her colorful co-workers. The series won over fans and critics alike, particularly in its early years, receiving the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series — Musical or Comedy in 1998 and 1999, as well as the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series in 1999.
In addition to Flockhart and Carson, Greg Germann, Jane Krakowski, Gil Bellows, Portia de Rossi, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Peter MacNicol, Lucy Liu, Vonda Shepard, and more starred on the show. It's not yet known, who, if anyone, might return for the new iteration.
#BoxOfficeNews: ‘Dragon Ball Super’ beats ‘Beast’ at the box office with $20.1M
“Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero” topped the charts in its first weekend in theaters, with $20.1 million in ticket sales according to studio estimates on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022. (Crunchyroll via AP)
Idris Elba may go head-to-head with a lion in “Beast,” but the action flick was no match for the latest “Dragon Ball” movie at the North American box office this weekend.
“Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero” topped the charts in its first weekend in theaters, with $20.1 million in ticket sales according to studio estimates on Sunday. “Beast,” meanwhile, settled for a second-place debut with $11.6 million.
Crunchyroll released “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero” on 3,900 screens in North America, marking the widest-ever opening for an anime. The Toei Animation production was directed by Tetsuro Kodama, who had the support of “Dragon Ball” creator Akira Toriyama. The Dragon Ball universe is almost 40 years old, and includes manga, television shows, movies, games and toys.
“We’re absolutely thrilled that Dragon Ball fans could come together to experience and enjoy this amazing film in theaters,” said Mitchel Berger, senior vice president of global commerce for the distributor, in a statement. “Crunchyroll thanks all of the fans, whether or not you are a ‘super’ fan or a newcomer, and we hope they come back again and again.”
According to PostTrak, the “Dragon Ball Super” audience was heavily male (79%) and 44% between the ages of 25 and 34.
“Japanese anime is a cinematic tradition, but rarely do you see a movie like this topping the domestic chart,” said Paul Dergarabedian, the senior media analyst for Comscore. “To be ahead of all these other mainstream Hollywood movies is quite incredible. It speaks volumes to the globalization of the box office.”
“Beast,” meanwhile, opened on 3,743 screens in North America. The film, directed by Baltasar Kormákur (“Everest”) stars Elba as a widowed father of two teenage girls, played by Iyana Halley and Leah Jeffries, who find themselves on the run from a bloodthirsty lion during a trip to South Africa.
Including international showings, “Beast” has made $21.8 million so far.
“I think this is a terrific start for ‘Beast,’” said Jim Orr, Universal’s head of domestic distribution. “I believe we will have a great run at the box office.”
Elba also has another film opening in theaters next weekend — George Miller’s fantasy epic “Three Thousand Years of Longing.”
Sony’s “Bullet Train,” meanwhile, landed in third place after two weekends at No. 1 with an estimated $8 million, bringing its domestic total to $68.9 million. Paramount’s “Top Gun: Maverick” placed fourth in its 13th weekend in theaters with an additional $5.9 million. “Top Gun” has made over $683 million in North America to date, which was was enough to overtake “Avengers: Infinity War” as the sixth highest grossing domestic release of all time. “DC League of Super-Pets” rounded out the top five.
Paramount also released “Orphan: First Kill” on Paramount+ and in 498 locations this weekend. The Esther origin story made an estimated $1.7 million from theaters.
The weekend overall saw about $77 million in North American ticket sales — up over 168% from the same weekend last year— bringing the year to date to $5.2 billion, according to Comscore. But the summer movie season continues a wind down that may last deep into the fall.
“It’s not that there’s not going to be any movies, there’s just not going to be a $100 million blockbuster for a while,” Dergarabedian said. “But in the interim, there’s going to be a lot of cool movies, like ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ (Sept. 23).”
Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore.
1. “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero,” $20.1 million.
2. “Beast,” $11.6 million.
3. “Bullet Train,” $8 million.
4. “Top Gun: Maverick,” $5.9 million.
5. “DC League of Super-Pets,” $5.8 million.
6. “Thor: Love and Thunder,” $4 million.
7. “Nope,” $3.6 million.
8. “Minions: The Rise of Gru,” $3.5 million.
9. “Where the Crawdads Sing,” $3.2 million.
10. “Bodies Bodies Bodies,” $2.4 million.
Nappy Roots Member Fish Scales Shot In Robbery And Kidnapping Attempt
The rapper was robbed at gunpoint and forced to drive to his home.
Nappy Roots member Fish Scales was recently a shooting victim of a robbery and kidnapping incident on Wednesday (Aug. 17).
According to 11 Alive, Scales was in the parking lot of Atlantucky Brewery—which is owned by the rapper and his groupmates—with a customer that night when two armed men approached and attacked Scales. While the customer was able to flee and later reported the incident to authorities, Scales was held at gunpoint and forced to drive to his home in Hapeville, Georgia. Upon arriving at his home, Scales was able to break free from the bandits but was shot in the leg by one of the suspects during his escape. The suspects fled the scene and are still at large.
The following day, Nappy Roots released a statement, addressed the incident, and provided an update on Scales’ condition. “We are blessed to say that he is stable and in good spirits after suffering a leg injury,” reads the tweet, which included a photo of the wounded rapper lying in a hospital bed. “Luckily, none of our dedicated patrons of Atlantucky were at the scene or harmed during the robbery.”
The group also voiced their appreciation for Scales survival and noted that an investigation into the robbery and kidnapping is underway. “We are so thankful our brother is safe and on the road to recovery. We would appreciate some privacy as we are trusting the Atlanta Police Dept. in the ongoing investigation. Scales also mentioned he is looking forward to getting back to work both on music and brewery.”
In 2002, Nappy Roots released their debut album, Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz, which established the group as one of the breakout acts out of the south. Led by the hit singles “Awnaw” and “Po’ Folks,” their highest charting song to date, Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz earned critical and commercial success, and was certified Platinum by the RIAA that same year. After returning for their sophomore effort, Wooden Leather, in the following year, Nappy Roots eventually left the major label system and formed their own independent label N.R.E.G. (Nappy Roots Entertainment Group). The group has since dropped a half dozen projects, with their latest release being the 2015 album The 40 Akerz Project.

We wish him well!
Megan Thee Stallion Dressed As Sailor Moon For Her Performance At Summer Sonic Festival In Tokyo
Megan Thee Stallion is not shy about her love of anime and Japanese television and film. This weekend, at Summer Sonic Festival in Tokyo, Megan took the stage dressed as Sailor Moon, performing many of her hits, including several tracks from her latest album, Traumazine.
Since she first stepped onto the scene, Megan has been vocal about her love of anime, and has grown more in love with the art as adult. In a 2020 Instagram Live session with Tim Lyu of anime studio Crunchyroll, she said, “Being an adult and watching anime, I really like the storylines. You see a character who might not be the strongest. You grow with that the character…you meet new people along the way as they try to be the hero / become the person they need to be.”
Elsewhere in the chat, she revealed that while she had watched Sailor Moon, she initially couldn’t quite get into it.
“Every time there’s a fight, her boyfriend comes to save the day,” Megan said.
Regardless, she certainly slayed her outfit, and even more so, her performance, which she said received a large positive reaction from her Japanese fans.
“This whole stadium in JAPAN was going UP for me,” said Megan in a tweet. “You can’t fake thee love…im grateful.”
Cardi B blasts UFC star who compared her to Andrew Tate and called her a 'brain dead moron'
Former UFC fighter Jake Shields disparaged Cardi B in a tweet defending Andrew Tate.
Cardi B responded in a now-deleted post and denied Shields' accusations about her.
Tate is banned from Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok over his controversial remarks.
Cardi B hit back at former UFC fighter Jake Shields after he compared her to Andrew Tate and disparaged her online.
The online tussle began on Thursday when Shields, 43, attempted to publicly defend Tate, 35, with a series of tweets. Tate made headlines in recent months after videos of his controversial comments about women began circulating on social media sites like TikTok and Instagram.
"People are freaking out about young boys looking up to Andrew Tate but totally fine with young girls looking up to Cardi B and the Kardashians," Shields wrote in one post.
He continued: "Tate's Main message is stop being lazy and making excuses and go work hard and get in shape and make money. Cardi's Is go do drugs, fuck random men and go through life as a brain dead Moron."
Cardi B, 29, responded to Shield's Twitter thread on Saturday in a now-deleted post. Entertainment blog The Neighborhood Talk shared screenshots of the exchange.
"I'm married, I don't smoke weed, I don't pop pills, I don't do coke," Cardi wrote. "I'm a mom of 2 kids and I do a lot of charity work … but hey let me put cardi into it to defend a man who defend misogyny and rape."
Representatives for Cardi B and Shields did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
On Thursday, Meta banned Tate from Facebook and Instagram for violating policies around dangerous organizations and individuals, as well as violating policies on hate speech. Tate is also banned from TikTok, with a spokesperson telling Insider that "misogyny is a hateful ideology that is not tolerated on TikTok."
In the past, Tate garnered backlash for saying rape victims need to "bear some responsibility" and suggested a woman's genitals belong to their partner when in a relationship. He also suggested that men and women are not equal, calling female self-defense "bullshit" and that women are "incapable of fighting."
Tate emerged as a new leading figure in the manosphere, which is "a network of online men's communities who promote anti-feminist and sexist beliefs blaming women and feminists for all sorts of problems in society," according to InternetMatters.org.
On Saturday, The Guardian reported that Tate's program — The Hustlers University — was closed. Some criticized the program, which offered financial advice through paid online courses, for appearing to be a scam.

T’yanna Wallace, Daughter Of Notorious B.I.G., Posts Boyfriend’s $1M Bond In Hit-And-Run Injuring Mother & Toddler
T’yanna Wallace, the 29-year-old daughter of late and great rapper Notorious B.I.G., has made headlines after she posted her boyfriend’s $1 million bond in his hit-and-run case that injured three people, including a mother and her toddler.
Wallace’s longtime boyfriend is identified as 28-year-old Tyshawn Baldwin — with whom Wallace shares an infant.
NYPD officials say Baldwin allegedly fled police on Wednesday, August 10 during a routine traffic stop in Queens.
He allegedly had parked his 2021 Durango SRT Hellcat in a busy intersection. According to court papers, police also tried to bust him on having a loud exhaust and dark tinted windows.
Police say Baldwin initially complied with officers and had handed over his driver’s license and registration. But when cops ran him in their database, they saw that his L’s was suspended. Subsequently, they walked back to his vehicle and they ordered him to exit his Hellcat. Instead, Baldwin put the pedal to the metal and bolted.
During the getaway, Baldwin plowed into a group of pedestrians. Included was a a food delivery man and a mother who was pushing her 2-year-old daughter in a stroller across a crosswalk. All three suffered serious injuries.
Graphic footage from the incident has since surfaced and shows the moment Baldwin slammed into the woman and her toddler, and then the delivery driver.
The extremely sensitive video clip shows Baldwin’s Hellcat on the left side of the frame and one NYPD patrol on the right side. After Baldwin revs on his gas, a police officer standing next to his driver’s side window comes from around the car as he takes off.
The officer tries to signal officers in the patrol car on the right side of the video frame to follow him. But as soon as the patrol car moves, they slam on their brakes as Baldwin mowed down the mother and her child.
All of the officers then exit their vehicles and rush over to check on the mother and baby, and the delivery driver, leaving Baldwin to escape the scene.
However, six days later, Baldwin ended up surrendering to local authorities and was arrested. New York justice, Judge Scott Dunn, ordered that he be held in jail on a $1 million bond.
Fortunately for him, his Hip-Hop heiress girlfriend came to his rescue and posted his bond. He was released two days after he was booked. Court records say that Wallace put up her $1.5 million Brooklyn home as collateral.
Baldwin’s hit-and-run charges include: 17 counts of first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child and other charges. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison.
Man Involved In Kim Kardashian’s Infamous Paris Hotel Robbery Says He Has No Remorse For Incident: ‘She Should Be A Little Less Showy’
One of the men involved in the infamous 2016 Paris hotel robbery that left Kim Kardashian tied up in a bathtub has come out to say he doesn’t feel bad for how things played out for the reality star. The Skims founder, who later said she feared she was going to die the night a group of men showed up at her hotel room demanding that she handed over all of her pricey belongings, was left shaking after the incident, mainly since she had no security in tow when the crime occurred.
Yunis Abbas would serve two years in prison for the senseless act, but in a recent interview with VICE News, he told the publication that he didn’t feel bad for Kardashian, stressing that she “should be a little less showy” on social media. “Since she was throwing money away, I was there to collect it, and that was that. Guilty? No, I don’t care,” he argued.
“They should be a little less showy towards people who can’t afford it,” Abbas continued, referring to not just Kardashian but celebrities in general, adding that it’s insensitive to be flashing their wealth to others. Among the items stolen during the heist were $10 million worth of jewelry, which included the $4 million engagement ring the TV personality was given by Kanye West.
A whopping 12 people robbed Kardashian when she was alone in her hotel room, many of them were said to have been in their 60s but disguised their appearance with the use of face masks. Abbas was released from prison after 22 months due to health-related issues.
He recalled how seeing Kardashian flash her expensive possessions made her an easy target when she flew out to the French capital, as Abbas remained downstairs to keep guard while the rest of his conspirators handled the mother of four and tied her up while they searched through her room to grab hold of any valuables.
“Madame Kardashian’s secretary called for help. But she called 911 in the United States, which scared us, and made them lose a lot of time. And when we got out, there was a bunch of police outside who didn’t know anything about the robbery,” he recounted.
Despite seemingly having no regrets for how things played out, Abbas admits that the situation must have been “traumatizing” for Kardashian because going through something like that can change someone’s entire outlook on life. “You don’t come out of it unscathed,” he retorted.
#RIP: Virginia Patton, Actress in ‘It’s a Wonderful Life,’ Dies at 97
Virginia Patton, who portrayed Ruth Dakin Bailey, the sister-in-law of Jimmy Stewart’s George Bailey, in the Frank Capra holiday classic It’s a Wonderful Life, has died. She was 97.
Patton died Thursday at an assisted living facility in Albany, Georgia, the Mathews Funeral Home announced.
Patton’s character in the 1946 film was married to Harry Bailey (Todd Karns), and her big scene takes place at the Bedford Falls train station, when she meets George and Uncle Billy (Thomas Mitchell) for the first time.
While crewmembers were lighting her scene — filmed at the Santa Fe railroad’s now-defunct Lamanda Park station in Pasadena — with her stand-in, she was wondering about how she was going to eat her buttered popcorn while wearing white gloves.
“I was dressed as a young matron. I had a hat, a suit and white gloves, I was coming to meet my new in-laws,” she recalled in 2016. “And I was going to eat buttered popcorn with white gloves?
“We rehearsed it, and Frank didn’t say anything about it, his assistant didn’t say anything about it, the cameraman didn’t say anything about it. I was sitting there, ‘What am I going to do? I’m going to get the popcorn all over those gloves.’ … I thought, ‘Well, I’ll just pretend everybody eats buttered popcorn with their gloves on, and they all get butter on them.'”
Virginia Ann Patton was born in Cleveland on June 25, 1925. She was raised in Portland, Oregon, where she graduated from Jefferson High School in 1942, then made her way to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.
She signed with Warner Bros., made her movie debut in the musical Thank Your Lucky Stars (1943), starring Eddie Cantor and an all-star cast, and appeared in small roles in other films including Janie (1944), Hollywood Canteen (1944) and Jack Benny’s The Horn Blows at Midnight (1945).
A niece of World War II general George Patton, she had starred in a play written by William C. De Mille, brother of Cecil B. De Mille, while she was attending USC, and that put her on the radar of Capra. He was casting It’s a Wonderful Life, the first film he would make for his new Liberty Films production company.
“I read for him, and he signed me,” she said in 2013, adding that she was “the only girl he ever signed in his whole career.” Her contract at Warners had elapsed, and all the other adult castmembers would work on loan from other studios.
Since It’s a Wonderful Life has aired multiple times every year around Christmas for decades, Patton often joked that “I’ve probably been in more homes than even Santa Claus.”
Patton had the female lead in The Burning Cross (1947), a movie about the Ku Klux Klan, and Black Eagle (1948), a Western, then retired from acting following a supporting turn in The Lucky Stiff (1949).
She left Hollywood and moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, after marrying automotive executive Cruse W. Moss in 1949, and they had three children. They were married for 69 years until his death in 2018.
Patton served as a docent at the University of Michigan’s Museum of Art and president and director of the Patton Corp., an investment and real estate holding company.
In a 2012 interview, Patton noted that Capra asked her to think twice about giving up show business, but she said she was comfortable with her decision.
“I have a beautiful letter that [Capra] wrote me because I kept in touch with him,” she said. “He wrote, ‘I just knew you’d be a wonderful mother with three little bambinos and a wonderful husband.'”
John Stamos celebrates his 59th birthday with throwback photos featuring Bob Saget
John Stamos is 59. In honor of his birthday on Friday, the Big Shot star shared a sweet message and some special birthday snapshots from his life via Instagram video.
Stamos included a variety of photos from his adorable childhood celebrations, annual family and cast gatherings as well as some memorable snapshots from his friendship with late Full House co-star, Bob Saget.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your birthday wishes,” Stamos captioned his Instagram video.
“Here’s some special birthday moments from over the years, in no particular order. I feel like every day is my birthday. I am so grateful for this blessed life that I have and all the beautiful people who are with me now or have passed through,” he wrote.
“God bless you all," the musician continued. "And as my dreams continue to come true, I wish the same for you XOJS.”
Saget died at age 65 in January. Stamos has since remembered his friend by sharing throwback photos and memories with social media.
In August, Stamos and the Beach Boys paid tribute to the late comedian at their Sixty Years of the Sounds of Summer concert. In a clip Stamos reposted from a fan on his Instagram Story, a video featuring Saget can be seen playing on screen before Stamos and the band performed The Beach Boys' classic hit, "Forever."
In May, the You alum celebrated his longtime friend on what would've been his 66th birthday, sharing a smiling photo of himself and Saget by the beach for the occasion.
He quoted legendary actor Jack Lemmon at the top of the Instagram caption, writing, "Death ends a life, not a relationship."
Stamos added, "Happy Birthday Bobby. I miss you madly."
Brian Stelter Signs Off in Final Airing of CNN’s ‘Reliable Sources’: ‘America Needs CNN to Be Strong’
Brian Stelter signed off in his final airing of CNN’s “Reliable Sources” Sunday with a message to the network and its viewers.
“I believe America needs CNN to be strong,” the CNN host said. “And they will continue to be, because all of us are going to help make that happen. The free world needs a reliable source.”
This Sunday’s show marks the final episode of the morning talk show that has been on the air since 1992, as Stelter exits CNN in a move announced Thursday.
After nine years as a host, Stelter reflected on his time at CNN, even thanking CEO Chris Licht, who reportedly wasn’t a fan of Stelter’s opinionated on-camera style, for the “unusual” opportunity to have a final show despite being canceled.
The CNN host put the responsibility for holding both CNN and the rest of the media industry accountable on audiences, since “we are all members of the media now.”
“But it’s going to be on you to hold CNN accountable,” he said to his viewers, “and not just CNN. You got to hold your local paper accountable, you got to hold your local digital outlet accountable. It’s on all of us. We are all members of the media, all helping to make it better.”
“This show’s going away but there’s gonna be so many more; we need to have room for media criticism and debate and discussion and we will,” Stelter said. “We also must make sure we are representing the full spectrum of debate and representing what’s going on in this country and in this world.”
Stelter also noted the ongoing importance and legacy of the program, calling it one of “CNN’s highest-rated weekend shows.”
“This small but mighty show punched above its weight for so many years — even a former president commented on its cancelation,” the CNN host said. “I was lucky to be a part of it for nine years but it began 30 years ago, right after the Gulf War.”
“The thing about TV is that it’s ephemeral. It’s fleeting. It evaporates up into the air and a lot of it is not even meant to be remembered,” Stelter said. “But this program transcended that,” noting that “Reliable Sources” has been increasingly used in journalism programs and classroom lessons.
The veteran journalist used his last hour of the show to focus on a familiar topic: the media industry. “This week, thanks to CNN management, we’ve been given the gift of signing off on our terms, and actually talking about the media industry,” he said.
During the hour, Stelter hosted a slew of journalists and news experts, including Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Carl Bernstein, NPR’s Eric Deggans and Insider’s Claire Atkinson, who discussed the state of journalism in the current political landscape and beyond. Stelter’s last guest, Brian Karem, came full circle, as he was the show’s first guest ever.
While the show’s demise involved laying off the entire staff of “Reliable Sources,” the Reliable Sources newsletter will continue led by CNN’s senior media reporter Oliver Darcy. The news of Stelter’s exit from CNN comes under four months after Licht took over as head of the company.
“It was the gift of a lifetime to get to confront these issues on international television with the backing of CNN,” Stelter concluded.
Fat Joe Celebrates Birthday With Mary J. Blige, Busta Rhymes, and More
Fat Joe did it big for his birthday celebration on Friday. Ashanti, CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King, Angie Martinez, and more were among those in attendance at the Brooklyn Chop House in New York City. Mary J. Blige delivered an impromptu performance, while Busta Rhymes took the mic and cracked a few jokes. In a preview of things to come, Fat Joe himself captivated everyone for about an hour with his personal stories.
The rapper announced on Friday that he will be taking the stage for a one-man show where he will open up about his life and career. The performance will be based on his upcoming memoir The Book of Jose, which is scheduled to hit shelves on Nov. 15. The show itself will feature an introduction from Dave Chappelle, as well as other celebrity appearances.
“The world will be getting Fat Joe at his most authentic, vulnerable, and comedic self on that stage,” he said of the Chris Robinson-directed project. “I’m not holding anything back. I’ve always taken pride in my storytelling, but we’re about to take it to the next level.”
In an appearance on A&E’s Origins of Hip-Hop, Fat Joe opens up about being bullied every day as a kid, and reveals that he was forever changed after his childhood best friend turned on him. The rapper considers that moment to be “the birth of Joey Crack.”
GOP Group Apologizes After Posting KKK Imagery on Facebook
An Alabama GOP group faced scrutiny this week after sharing KKK imagery on its Facebook.
According to WHNT, the Lawrence County Republican Party shared the post Sunday night when announcing its new county chairman, Shanon Terry. At first glance, the illustration looked like the typical GOP elephant with an American flag motif; but upon closer examination, users noticed there were KKK hoods hidden in the white spaces between the elephant’s legs.
The organization removed the image following online backlash, insisting it never intended to post KKK imagery.
“A google search picture of a GOP elephant was used and later found to have hidden images that do not represent the views or beliefs of the Lawrence County Republican Party,” Terry said in a statement. “The picture was then immediately replaced. As chairman I take full responsibility for the error.”
Illustrator Woody Harrington created the image for a Mother Jones article about the racism and bigotry within Trump’s GOP party. Harrington addressed the incident in an Instagram post, saying it was a lesson in “copyright karma.”
“Its now come to my attention that the Hate Elephant has been given new life (without permission or credit of course),” he wrote. “… Unfortunately, when they google searched ‘GOP elephant,’ they never bothered looking close enough at the original source material, or the elephant’s legs to notice the hidden KKK hoods … Let this be a lesson in copyright karma, and always remember to ask for a proof.”
Terry is also a member of the county school board, and is facing calls for resignation. He told WHNT he has no intention to leave the position, and reiterated that the Facebook was simply a mistake.
“The voters of District Four elected me to represent them and I am proud of the accomplishments of this administration over the past six years. I look forward to continuing to strive to give every student in Lawrence County the best opportunity to be successful,” he statement read in part. “… The image posted by me on a political Facebook page was not done with any malicious or harmful intent. Once made aware of the negative portion of the picture I immediately replaced it and followed up with an apology/explanation the next day … I do not support or agree with any hate group agenda and certainly would not try to further their cause.”
The Lawrence County Republican Party’s Facebook page was deleted Thursday night.
Dr. Dre Officially Announces His ‘Next Big Thing’ is the Marvin Gaye Movie
*In an interview with @diversementality podcast, Dr. Dre officially announces that he’s working on the Marvin Gaye movie and that it’s the next big thing people should expect from him 💰
Dre says he’s been working on it for the last 4 to 5 years with Jimmy Iovine, Allen Hughes and Suzanne de Passe.
You may remember on #TheDefiantOnes (also directed by Allen Hughes) that Dr. Dre was filmed playing in the studio with some Marvin Gaye master recordings. That was for the movie soundtrack.
Both Motown and Marvin Gaye’s estate are also onboard. With the help of Warner Brothers, Dre will be able to utilize all of Gaye’s signature songs. Something which, until now, was unachievable, but an essential condition to produce the film worthy of its central character.
On top of his negotiation skills, Dre used his expertise as a sound producer to help the director incorporate Gaye’s voice into the narrative on the movie.
Warner Bros approved over $80 million for the project, making it the biggest budget in history for an African American music biopic. The film release is set for 2023 in theatres as well as on HBO Max.
Also, back in 2021, Deadline reported that the film, titled “What’s Going On” was being developed in partnership with Motown and Gaye’s estate, so filmmakers will have the rights to all of the singer’s signature songs.
Copyright and legal issues stalled or canceled several past movie attempts to tell Gaye’s story.
“This is so personal for me,” Hughes told Deadline. “When I made my first film with my brother, we were fortunate to get ‘What’s Going On’ into the trailer for Menace 2 Society and it was a game-changer in elevating the marketing of that film. Every film of mine, but the period film From Hell, had some Marvin Gaye in it and I’ve just always connected to him.”
“He’s the artist’s artist, with this ethereal voice that just comes out of the heavens,” he continued. “There have been plenty of great artists and then Marvin… [he’s] in his own lane. When you listen, in one measure you feel like you’ve read a novel. Such a rich inner life in that voice, heavenly but riddled with pain, the agony and ecstasy at the same time.”
Historic! Bessie Coleman’s Legacy Celebrated by American Airlines with All-Black Female Crew
*(CNN) — An all-Black female crew operated an American Airlines flight from Dallas to Phoenix in honor of Bessie Coleman, the first Black woman to earn a pilot’s license in 1921.
The airline hosted the Bessie Coleman Aviation All-Stars tour this week to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Coleman performing the first public flight by an African American woman in 1922.
“She bravely broke down barriers within the world of aviation and paved the path for many to follow,” American Airlines said in a statement.
Coleman’s great-niece, Gigi Coleman, was hosted on the flight operated by the all-Black female crew of pilots, flight attendants, customer service coordinators, cargo team members and the aviation maintenance technician, the airline said.

“I’m grateful for American Airlines to give us this opportunity to highlight my great aunt’s accomplishments in the field of aviation,” Gigi said in a video posted by American Airlines titled “Empowering Women in the Skies.”
Very few American women of any race had pilot’s licenses by 1918, but those who did were often White and rich. Undeterred, Coleman learned French and moved to Paris and was accepted by the Caudron Brothers School of Aviation. In 1921, Coleman became the first female pilot of African American and Native American descent.
Coleman died at 34 in 1926 during a practice run with another pilot. While she never fulfilled her dream to open a flight school for future Black pilots, Coleman’s imprint on aviation history lives on, CNN previously reported.

Black women have been “notably underrepresented in the aviation industry, especially as pilots, representing less than 1% in the commercial airline industry,” American Airlines said.
“Today, I’m beyond thrilled to be a part of the crew where we are inspiring young girls, young girls of color, to see the various roles that these women play in every aspect to make this flight possible,” Captain Beth Powell, the flight’s pilot, said in the video.
American Airlines said it is committed to diversifying the flight deck, which includes “expanding awareness of and increasing accessibility to the pilot career within diverse communities” through its cadet academy.
The day after the historic flight, representatives from the Bessie Coleman Foundation and American Airlines pilots and cadets met with students at the Academies at South Mountain in Phoenix, where the flight landed, to expose young people to careers in aviation.
“I knew she was the first African American woman to get her pilot’s license, she was the first to do it so she inspired the next generation to follow her footsteps and know that they can also be what they want to be,” said Mohamed Mohamed, an aspiring airline pilot who studies aerospace at the academy.

The flatbread Similar is similar to the Mexican Pizza and is even served in the same type of packaging.

Appeals Court Order Delays Lindsey Graham’s Atlanta Grand Jury Testimony In Trump Case
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham got a break from judges who delayed his upcoming grand jury testimony.
A panel of federal appeals court judges temporarily delayed Graham’s testimony in Atlanta that was to be heard before a Fulton County special grand jury in the criminal probe investigation on whether former President Donald Trump or his associates broke any state law in their efforts to have the 2020 presidential election results overturned in the state of Georgia, Fox News reported.
The temporary stay was issued on Sunday by the 11th US Circuit Court of Appeals, which delayed the South Carolina Senator’s testimony scheduled for Tuesday. Now, a lower court must decide on the types of questions that can and cannot be posed to Graham because there are protections given to members of Congress under the U.S. Constitution.
U.S. District Judge Leigh Martin May had previously denied the senator’s request on Aug. 15 to quash his subpoena and then on Friday rejected his effort to put her ruling on hold while he appealed.
Graham’s lawyers appealed to the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
The three-judge panel, comprised of two Trump appointees and one appointee of former President Bill Clinton, issued their order temporarily, pausing May’s order that rejected quashing the subpoena.
The appeals court judge’s decision directs May to determine whether Graham “is entitled to a partial quashal or modification of the subpoena to appear before the special purpose grand jury based on any protections afforded by the Speech or Debate Clause of the United States Constitution.”
Apparently, the clause protects members of Congress from testifying about anything related to their official legislative business.
After May decides on that issue, the case will return to the 11th Circuit for further consideration.
LA Man with Monkeypox Gets Social Media Backlash – He Went to McDonald’s and Posted
*There are all sorts of outbreaks out there now; from Covid-19, E. coli, polio, and monkeypox to West Nile. As these outbreaks continue to ravage the world mercilessly, the least many would expect is a reasonable person playing about his health.
But that is what one Los Angeles man decided to do. The man who appears to have physical signs of monkeypox (extremely noticeable lesions covering his face, arms, and hands) has had to face exponential condemnation by the outraged social media community after he posted a video of himself going to McDonald’s.
In the video, the monkeypox victim is seated in a car, sipping a drink while speaking to the camera. He calls himself Duane Cali on TikTok.
Says he, “What’s good, y’all? My bad I’m not in the house. But I had to go make a McDonald’s run ‘cause I ain’t got no groceries. I ain’t have no food.”
Having justified his reason for going out, he boldly adds, “I just wanted to make this video to remind you to be careful who you f**k with. Because not everybody who you f**k with is gonna f***k with you. Not everybody you look out for is gonna look out for you. S**t, you might show up for the wrong motherf**ker at the wrong place, at the wrong time, and end up with the f**kin’ monkeypox.”
Many viewers of the outrageous video were shocked and rightly wondered how he paid for his food, considering the virus is contagious and so can be spread by touching shared surfaces, including cash or cards, that an infected person has handled.
One TikTok user watched the video and commented thus: “Why did you go out to get food? What about the person that took your payment, etc?”
Another one had good advice for the reckless patient: “Use a delivery service and do the no contact option. Have a friend leave it at your door. Come on.”
Still, others blamed him and people sharing his mindset for the lack of sufficient public service workers during the pandemic that stretched for a year.
“This right here is why no one wants to work with the public anymore,” they said.
But others speculated he exposed others to monkeypox for “clout” because towards the end of the video, he says, “At the end of the day, just choose yourself.” A song titled “Choose Yourself” by Duane Cali is heard playing and an announcement saying the single is available “on all platforms” appears.
“It’s for clout to push [an] underperforming music career. It’s also reckless and irresponsible,” said a Twitter user.
Fauci, Top infectious disease expert, to retire in December
WASHINGTON (AP) — Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert who became a household name — and the subject of partisan attacks — during the COVID-19 pandemic, announced Monday he will depart the federal government in December after more than five decades of service.
Fauci, who serves as President Joe Biden's chief medical adviser, has been the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and chief of the NIAID Laboratory of Immunoregulation. He was a leader in the federal response to HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases even before the coronavirus hit.
“I will be leaving these positions in December of this year to pursue the next chapter of my career,” Fauci said in a statement, calling those roles “the honor of a lifetime.”
Fauci became the face of the government response to COVID-19 as it hit in early 2020, with frequent appearances on television news and at daily press conferences with White House officials, including then-President Donald Trump. But as the pandemic deepened, Fauci fell out of favor with Trump and his officials when his urgings of continued public caution clashed with the former president's desire to return to normalcy and to promote unproven therapies for the virus.
Fauci found himself marginalized by the Trump administration, increasingly kept out of major decisions about the federal response, but he continued to speak out publicly in media interviews, advocating social distancing and face coverings in public settings before the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccines.
He was also the subject of political attacks and death threats and was granted a security detail for his protection.
When Biden won the White House, he asked Fauci to stay on in his administration in an elevated capacity. The president praised Fauci in a statement, saying, “Whether you’ve met him personally or not, he has touched all Americans’ lives with his work. I extend my deepest thanks for his public service. The United States of America is stronger, more resilient, and healthier because of him.”
Fauci said despite retiring from federal service he planned to continue working. “I want to use what I have learned as NIAID Director to continue to advance science and public health and to inspire and mentor the next generation of scientific leaders as they help prepare the world to face future infectious disease threats,” he said.
