Tracee Ellis Ross for Harper's Bazaar US!
Tracee Ellis Ross covers Harper’s Bazaar’s November ‘Home’ issue photographed by Renell Medrano and styled by Samira Nasr.
Here are some excerpts from the interview!

On finding happiness on her own: “I didn’t see enough examples of different versions of how a woman can find happiness and joy and power and sensuality, sexuality, all of that, without it being through the lens of how I’m seen by a man. People are like, ‘You’re the poster child for being single.’ And I was like, ‘Great.’ But what I would prefer is that I’m the poster child for living my life on my terms. And that there’s a version of that for everyone. I don’t live my life for other people. I just totally live it for me. This is something that has really solidified itself into an unbreakable, unshakable foundation in the last four or five years.”
On using her platform to speak up for what she believes in: “There were a lot of instances on Girlfriends when I used my voice powerfully and it wasn’t well received. People don’t want to be told that what they’re doing might not be the right thing or might not make everybody happy. But I am somebody who—I don’t just go along to get along.”

On reflecting on the near-decade she has spent playing Bow on Black-ish and how ending the long-running show and putting a beloved character to rest feels different from leaving her role as Joan on Girlfriends: “I’m ready for it to be the end, and also it’s going to be really hard. I mean, eight years we’ve watched the TV kids grow up. We’ve watched Anthony’s beard do tons of different things. I found my voice. It came before, but I really started using it during Black-ish.”
On her journey to become more outspoken and bold: “Listen, learning to be me has been a really long journey. I tried being small and feeling things in little ways. It took me a long time to get to know myself, to accept myself, and even on some days to really like and love myself. And then it took me a whole other load of years to have the courage to actually live in the world as that person. And it’s been trial and error, chewing on ground glass. It’s been a hard-earned journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance. I mean, I came out of the womb like this. I literally think I was like, ‘Woo-hoo! I’m here. What have you got? Let’s go!’”

On embracing her age: “I’m the sexiest I’ve ever been. And when I say that, I mean I feel the most myself. And the information is just not out there. And it’s as if you get to this age and—what was that Tina Fey sketch?” she asks, referring to the one Fey starred in on Inside Amy Schumer called “Last Fuckable Day.” “It’s like, they’re going to cart me off in a canoe into no-man’s-land. Fuck that. Shut up. I’m going to be sexy all over the place. Living my life with my juice.”

On finding a sense of home in the people and things that surround her: “Because of the childhood that I had and my mother’s career, from an early age, even though I couldn’t define it at the time, I had to find a sense of home and safety within my body and with people. It wasn’t always about a space, and that remains for me. Home for me is about safety and embrace. It’s about shedding all the external masks that we have to wear out in the world. Home is really about beauty, safety, history. My friendships are home for me. My family is home for me. It’s an energetic connection that creates a sense of safety and groundedness, where I don’t have to wear any mask. I can just be myself.”
Michaela Angela Davis, Tracee’s longtime friend, on how she met the actress while working at Mirabella: “I met Tracee in a closet… She was working in the fashion closet at Mirabella, and she was receiving clothes that I had pulled for a shoot. I had no idea who she was, except for she was cute and she was a girl of color where there were none. When I say none, it seems odd to imagine, but if you could go back over 25 years and look at any major magazine, there were none. She was just so cool. She was that girl. And she wore a very sophisticated mix of designer and vintage. She’s got on Halston today, and yesterday she had on 1972 Céline because she was also wearing her mother’s vintage clothes. Hello! And she worked really hard, and she was focused. She didn’t work like a rich girl. She wasn’t outdressing Jade Hobson, who was the creative director [then], but she was killing it every day.” (Mirabella is also where Ross met and became friends with Harper’s Bazaar editor in chief Samira Nasr.) “She said, ‘My mother would love you!’ I said, ‘Okay, that’s cute. Your mother would love me.’ I thought maybe her mother was a society lady. So I get this address to go to the Sherry-Netherland. And it’s a different name, obviously. I go in, and the doorman lets me in. And I go up to the penthouse, and the elevator doors open, and Diana Ross is standing in front of me. That began our long friendship. We are both really interested in style and joy and justice.”

#RHOA: Are The Newbies Clashing Already While Filming Upcoming Season Of RHOA?
Cast changes were made ahead of season 14 of RHOA “Real Housewives of Atlanta” fans were shocked to learn about the departures coming into season 14. Porsha Williams decided it was time to walk away from the show. Instead, she has opted to open up about her engagement to Simon Guobadia in her spinoff, “Porsha’s Family Matters.” She’s elated about the relationship. However, some of her family members are not. This is due to the fact that they believe that the relationship has been moving way too fast. In fact, Porsha’s sister, Lauren Williams, claimed the couple got engaged in two weeks. Others are uneasy about the fact that this will be Simon’s fourth marriage. And they aren’t sure what to think about the fact that Simon was married to Porsha’s former co-worker, Falynn Guobadia.

Cynthia Bailey has also left the show. She was not offered a peach. And she figured it would be best to end the chapter and focus on her new marriage. So she wasn’t interested in being demoted to a friend.

LaToya Ali is also reportedly out.
Sheree Whitfield is back on board as a peach holder. It will also be Marlo Hampton’s first season with a peach. Drew Sidora returns after her rookie season. And Kenya Moore and Kandi Burruss are still in the mix as well. Olympian and track star Sanya Richards-Ross joins the cast as a peach-holding newbie.

It’s also been reported that former “Love And Hip Hop Atlanta” star LightSkinKeisha has signed on to be a guest.
While some fans are disappointed about who won’t be on the upcoming season, it’s already some information about the drama to expect for season 14. And it seems as if a couple of newbies already had tension.

Kandi Burruss discusses drama on the upcoming season of RHOA? There has been a lot of talk about who won’t be on the upcoming season of “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” During season 13, a lot of the drama was centered around Bolo Gate. And with Porsha Williams no longer on the show, fans won’t be able to see the drama surrounding her engagement play out on RHOA. Instead, they will have to wait for “Porsha’s Family Matters.” However, Kandi Burruss reportedly opened up about what to expect during season 14.

And she reportedly told fans that two of the newbies had a heated moment after their past friendship was discussed.

Blogger Bravo TV RHOA broke the news on Twitter. They also said that Kandi was shocked to see the situation escalate so fast while filming.

#HipHopNews: Jay-Z, Ll Cool J Inducted Into Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame!
History has been made.,Two of hip-hop’s living legends, JAY-Z and LL Cool J, were officially inducted into the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame at Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Saturday (Oct. 30).

JAY-Z, who earned his spot in his first year of eligibility, received recorded tributes from President Obama, Diddy, LeBron James, Chris Martin, Ed Sheeran, Jamie Foxx, Usher, and Pharrell, plus Beyoncé and Blue Ivy.

Dave Chappelle then emerged to honor Hov. After briefly addressing the ongoing controversy surrounding his Netflix special (“I would like to apologize…I’m just fu**ing with you”), the comedian got serious for a moment.

“You embody Black excellence, how great we can be,” he told JAY-Z, according to Rolling Stone. “When Barack Obama was running for president, I sat in an arena in Columbus, and watched you influence the crowd and make sure we’re unified and vote as a body. I understand who you are. And I understand what you do and I am very grateful for your contribution to this art. And I am honored to be the ni**a that gets to say, ‘My ni**a, welcome to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.'”

With his mother Gloria Carter looking on, JAY-Z paid respect to his inspirations including LL Cool J, KRS-One, and Chuck D, and thanked his Roc-A-Fella Records business partners including Damon Dash (“Shout out to Dame, I know we don’t see eye to eye, but I can never erase your accomplishments”).

During his induction speech, he reflected on his 25-year career and shared a story about getting a call from President Obama prior to the 2012 election.
“He called me and he said, ‘You know, it’s the fourth quarter. We’re down two. I need you to assist me, give me the ball, I’m Michael Jordan and I’ll get this done. I need you to go to Miami, Philly, Atlanta, and Ohio.’ And I thought like, ‘Man, hip-hop was really an agent for change and how amazing is its reach that this man is calling me to help out when he campaigned…I thought, ‘Ni**a, I’m Michael Jordan.’ That’s what I really thought.”

He continued, “That just shows me the power of hip-hop, the power of these heroes who let me know that these things are possible. Shout out to Kendrick [Lamar], who is a beautiful person. Hopefully [I’m showing the] next generation that anything is possible.”

LL Cool J, who was rejected by Hall of Fame voters six times, received his own star-studded salute from Dr. Dre. “He’s hit that unique space that crosses and bridges generations; the rare artist beloved by you, your mama and all of your kids all at once,” said Dre. “How ’bout that? How many artists in the rap game are relevant after 30 years?”

LL took the stage for what Rolling Stone called “one of the best Hall of Fame moments in history.” The performance began with 1987’s “Go Cut Creator Go” and “Going Back to Cali” before Eminem surprised the crowd and traded bars with his idol on “Rock the Bells.” Jennifer Lopez also showed up for their 2003 hit “All I Have” before LL capped things off with “Mama Said Knock You Out.”

Other Rock Hall inductees included Tina Turner, who received a musical tribute from H.E.R. and Christina Aguilera, and Carole King, who was honored by Jennifer Hudson. The three-hour ceremony will air Nov. 20 on HBO and HBO Max.

Armed Gunman Crash Teyana Taylor's Los Angeles Halloween Bash in Brazen Robbery Attempt!
Police were called to the Sunset Room in Hollywood Saturday night, after an armed robbery took place outside of a Halloween party thrown by Teyana Taylor.
via: Black Enterprise: The singer/director was hosting a party at the Sunset Room in Los Angeles when gunshots were heard outside, TMZ reports. Authorities say three women had been approached by three armed men who attempted to steal from them. One of the women was pistol whipped as the three tried to fight off the assailants.

One of the security guards at the nightclub got wind of what was happening and proceeded to exchange gunfire with one of the would-be thieves. No one was injured by the shots, though bullets were lodged into several nearby cars.

The woman who was assaulted refused medical assistance when an ambulance arrived on the scene.
While this party seems to have been open to the public, Taylor is set to co-host a private bash on Sunday alongside Karrueche Tran, LaLa Anthony and music executive Lenny Santiago. Anthony confirmed the Halloween soiree, which she and Santiago have partnered on in the past, during an interview earlier this month.
On Nov. 7, Taylor is set to embark on The Last Rose Petal tour, a run of 12 farewell performances ahead of her retirement as a recording artist. She announced her plan to retire in an Instagram post in September, which also included her tour schedule.

“How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard,” she wrote. “However for every goodbye God makes the next hello closer. Come out and watch me, leave it all out on the stage… One last time… Just for you & as my last rose petal falls, I say farewell….”

We are glad Teyana and her guest were not harmed.

Jon Bon Jovi Tests Positive for Breakthrough COVID!
Jon Bon Jovi has tested positive for coronavirus. The 59-year-old musician revealed the news shortly before a scheduled performance, via Variety.
He is “fully vaccinated and feeling fine,” according to a statement from his rep to the outlet.

Jon Bon Jovi was set to perform at an event called “Runaway With JBJ” at the Loews South Beach hotel in Miami, Fla. He returned a positive result on a rapid COVID test, local NBC affiliate WSVN reported.
The crowd was told the singer felt “great” and was going “to bed” while members of the band, who tested negative, remained for the scheduled performance.

For those unaware, breakthrough COVID cases are still possible and expected, since vaccines are not 100% effective in preventing infections. At the same time, vaccinated people who test positive are likely asymptomatic or have much milder illness than if they were not vaccinated. Approximately 98 to 99% of COVID deaths are linked to unvaccinated people.

Kal Penn Comes Out, Reveals Engagement To 11-Year Partner!
Kal Penn announced his engagement to Josh, his partner of 11 years, in his new book You Can’t Be Serious.
The former White House staff member confirmed his relationship in an interview with People on Sunday and gave his reasons for keeping mum all these years.

“I’ve always been very public with everybody I’ve personally interacted with. Whether it’s somebody that I meet at a bar, if Josh and I are out or we’re talking to friends,” Penn said. “I’m really excited to share our relationship with readers. But Josh, my partner, my parents, and my brother, four people who I’m closest to in the family, are fairly quiet. They don’t love attention and shy away from the limelight.”
Penn has not yet revealed his partner’s last name.
In the book, the Harold & Kumar star wrote that he had met Josh during his residency in Washington D.C. working for the Obama administration and how his now-partner brought an 18-pack of beer to watch NASCAR on their first date.

“I thought, ‘This obviously is not going to work out,” he recalls. “I have one day off from The White House and this dude is unironically watching cars go around and make left turns? Next thing you know, it’s been a couple months and we’re watching NASCAR every Sunday. I’m like, ‘What is happening?'” Penn said.
Penn also expressed he discovered his sexuality later in life and that he enjoys the support of those around him.

“There’s no timeline on this stuff. People figure their s— out at different times in their lives, so I’m glad I did when I did,” Penn said.

#BOXOFFICE: ‘Dune’ Leads Domestic Box Office Again as ‘Antlers,’ ‘Last Night in Soho’ Struggle to Scare Up Crowds!
The domestic box office was lighter on the treats and heavier on the tricks during Halloween weekend, capping an otherwise busy October at the movies on a muted note.

Horror movies “Antlers” and “Last Night in Soho” opened nationwide and struggled to scare up strong ticket sales, leaving last weekend’s champion “Dune” to rule over box office charts again. It’s the first time since COVID-19 that people could safely celebrate the spooky holiday, so it’s understandable that audiences opted to trick-or-treat or go to costumed parties rather than visit their local multiplex.

“Dune,” the big-screen adaptation of Frank Herbert’s influential sci-fi novel, generated $15.5 million in its second weekend of release, bringing its domestic total to $69.4 million. The film, which opened simultaneously on HBO Max, declined 62% from its debut, a considerably better hold than other recent Warner Bros. spectacles, such as “Mortal Kombat,” “The Suicide Squad” and “Space Jam: A New Legacy.” Those movies all but collapsed in their second weekends, respectively plunging roughly 70% while playing day-and-date on streaming. For “Dune,” most of the marketing has hinged the idea that fans need to watch the movie in the best possible quality, which is to say it demands to be seen in theaters. Patrons have been responding to that sentiment, as evidenced by robust Imax ticket sales. The premium format has delivered $4.2 million in revenues between Friday and Sunday and $17 million of “Dune’s” overall domestic tally.

Globally, “Dune” is nearing the $300 million mark, with international box office receipts at $222 million. Warner Bros. and Legendary, the companies behind “Dune,” have already announced that director Denis Villeneuve — and stars Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac and Zendaya — will return to Arrakis for a sequel.

The Focus Features film “Last Night in Soho” and Searchlight’s “Antlers” will battle for sixth place, with each film collecting a tepid $4.2 million over the weekend. Those figures could vary slightly when final numbers are tabulated on Monday. Either way, it’s an unenviable spot for new nationwide releases. “Last Night in Soho” had a slightly larger theater count, playing in 3,016 venues compared to “Antlers” in 2,800 locations.

Directed by Edgar Wright (“Baby Driver,” “Shaun of the Dead”), the mostly well-reviewed “Last Night in Soho” follows an aspiring fashion designer who finds herself transported back in time to 1960s London in the body of a night club singer. Starring Thomasin McKenzie and Anya Taylor-Joy, the movie secured a “B+” CinemaScore from ticket buyers. “Antlers” received worse grades. Produced by “The Shape of Water” filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and featuring Keri Russell as a small-town school teacher attempting to uncover a dangerous secret about one of her students, “Antlers” missed the mark with moviegoers and landed “C+” CinemaScore, which doesn’t bode well for its theatrical prospects.

David A. Gross, who runs the movie consulting firm Franchise Entertainment Research, says the “soft” opening weekends for “Last Night in Soho” and “Antlers” aren’t entirely perplexing.

“Psychological horror movies generally do less business than the blood-gore-shock variety,” he said. “Late October is the scary season, but with the holiday falling on the weekend, Halloween activities [and] social events are conflicting with moviegoing.”

Still, in a surprising twist, “Last Night in Soho” and “Antlers” opened behind “My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission,” the third entry in the popular anime series. From Funimation Films, the PG-13 movie has amassed $6.4 million from 1,602 screens over the weekend, enough for fourth place. “World Heroes’ Mission” is the sequel to 2020’s “My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising,” which launched to $5.8 million right before the pandemic hit and ended its theatrical run with $13.3 million. That film’s box office potential was cut short because two weeks after “Heroes Rising” opened, movie theaters across the country were forced to shutter to help stop the spread of COVID-19. The latest installment has been well-received, with an 80% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and 95% on Rotten Tomatoes from audiences.

Despite the newcomers to movie theater marquees, cinephiles craving a fright opted to watch Jamie Lee Curtis return as the avenging Laurie Strode in “Halloween Kills.” The Universal Pictures film finished the weekend in second place, with $8.5 million from 3,616 theaters. After three weekends on the big screen, “Halloween Kills” has grossed $85.6 million in the U.S. and Canada. It’s a solid result considering the slasher sequel premiered concurrently on Peacock, the streaming service owned by NBCUniversal.

In third place, MGM’s James Bond movie “No Time to Die” drummed up $7.8 million from 3,507 venues. So far, the 007 adventure — featuring Daniel Craig’s fifth and final outing as the suave secret agent — has made $133 million in North America. Internationally, “No Time to Die” has generated $472 million, pushing its global ticket sales to $600 million, a robust figure for pandemic times.

At the No. 5 spot, Sony’s comic book adventure “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” brought in $5.7 million from 3,278 theaters in its fifth outing. With $190 million in domestic ticket sales to date, the “Venom” follow-up is the second-highest grossing movie of the year behind Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” ($221 million).

Elsewhere at the domestic box office, Wes Anderson’s twee dramedy “The French Dispatch” expanded to 788 venues, where the star-studded film posted $2.8 million over the weekend. Domestically, it has earned $4.6 million after 10 days of release.

See this weekend’s estimated box office tally below:
“Dune” — $15.5 million
“Halloween Kills” — $8.5 million
“No Time to Die” — $7.8 million
“My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission” — $6.4 million
“Venom: Let There Be Carnage” — $5.7 million
“Last Night in Soho” — $4.2 million
“Antlers” — $4.2 million

Book dishes on Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld, writes Andre Leon Talley!
Andre Leon Talley reveals Karl Lagerfeld’s abusive childhood in memoir
Celebrities remember Karl Lagerfeld on the one-year anniversary of his death
Battle to control Karl Lagerfeld’s cat Choupette’s Instagram gets catty
Kristen Stewart says Karl Lagerfeld was ‘shockingly unpretentious’
Patrick Hourcade — the onetime creative director of French Vogue — has penned a memoir detailing his friendship with Karl Lagerfeld that includes some explosive details about the late fashion legend.

ding to a new piece by André Leon Talley on the book, “Karl: No Regrets,” for Graydon Carter’s Air Mail — Talley describes how Lagerfeld and Hourcade “met in 1976, when Hourcade was at the apex of his career as a French fashion journalist.”

“Lagerfeld was generous to all of his friends — until he turned on them,” Talley writes of the tome.
“For the last 20 years of his life, Lagerfeld dismissed Hourcade as ‘a cheat and a liar,’ apparently because, in some mysterious way, he considered himself jilted.”
But while, “Hourcade clearly states that he never had sex with the workaholic Karl,” Talley writes in his review, “the real reason Lagerfeld decided to break with him is because, after years of dedicating his life to Lagerfeld, and having never discussed anything remotely sentimental, he moved in with another man.”

Writes Talley: “That was the red line for Lagerfeld, who was miserable after the 1989 death of his handsome lover, Jacques de Bascher, due to complications from AIDS.”

De Bascher had “lived in unabashed luxury… entirely paid for by Lagerfeld,” Talley retells. “After de Bascher’s death, Lagerfeld never had any other love interest, except his photographer’s lens. He often held decadent, voyeuristic late-night photography sessions with male models and others he thought he could get to pleasure themselves as he took photographs. Few people have seen these photographs.”

The Chanel designer died in 2019.

The book is out from Rizzoli, and also includes details on Yves Saint Laurent, Anna Piaggi and others.

Kevin Durant Got Ejected For Elbowing Kelly Olynyk In The Head!
The Brooklyn Nets haven’t gotten off to the start to their 2021-22 season as they had hoped, even considering the absence of Kyrie Irving. At 3-3 entering Sunday night’s game against Detroit, it has been a stop and start affair for the Nets in the first two weeks of the season, but at the least, Kevin Durant has looked like, well, Kevin Durant so far.

KD came into Sunday averaging 28.5 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game, carrying a significant burden while James Harden works his way back into game shape and makes adjustments to the league’s new rules that have cut into shooting fouls. However, Durant’s outing against Detroit was cut short after 27 minutes when some frustration with Kelly Olynyk led to him throwing a hard elbow up high at the Pistons big man’s head on a screen, which was deemed a Flagrant 2 after review and earned Durant an ejection.

The second replay shows why Durant was tossed, as you can see him load up and put Olynyk on the business end of a forearm shiver to the neck/jaw. This surely came after something aggravated him, but no matter what it was, this was a step too far and he earned his early trip to the locker room. As for the Nets, they were already on cruise control up big on Detroit, so Durant’s absence for the rest of the fourth wasn’t a big deal overall, it just will require KD to dip into his checkbook for a fine from the league on Monday.

Kim Kardashian & Pete Davidson Spotted Holding Hands On Halloween Thrill Ride!
Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson were spotted holding hands while on a thrill ride, but sources say the two are “just friends.”
The duo was seen on a Halloween rollercoaster at Knott’s Scary Farm in Buena Park, California. The two spent a night out with Kourtney Kardashian and her fiancé, Travis Barker, and others.

“They hang in the same circles, so they will be together from time to time,” the source reportedly said. “It’s just friends hanging out.”
Pete became friends with the Kardashian family through mutual friend Machine Gun Kelly, who is a pal of Travis Barker.

The photos surfaced just weeks after Kim and Pete held hands and shared a kiss in an ‘SNL’ skit. Neither Kardashian nor Davidson have made a statement on the photographs.

Meghan Markle Surprises Nonprofit Workers with Starbucks Gift Cards to Help Fight for Paid Leave!
Meghan Markle continues to advocate for paid leave in the United States while helping others.
via People: The Duchess of Sussex, 40, provided $25 Starbucks gift cards for employees of the nonprofit PL+US, which is working to win paid family and medical leave for all in the U.S. by 2022. The gift cards were supplied through her and Prince Harry‘s nonprofit, the Archewell Foundation.

Neil Sroka, communications director for PL+US, posted a screenshot of his gift card to Twitter, expressing his gratitude for the mother of two. “The Duchess of Sussex (aka #MeghanMarkle) bought everyone at @PaidLeaveUS a few cups of coffee while we’re working overtime to #SavePaidLeave. Unbelievably classy… and necessary. Truly honored to know she has our backs in the fight to win #PaidLeaveForAll,” he wrote.

Earlier this month, Meghan recently advocated for paid leave in an open letter to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, published by Paid Leave for All.
“I’m not an elected official, and I’m not a politician. I am, like many, an engaged citizen and a parent,” she wrote. “And because you and your congressional colleagues have a role in shaping family outcomes for generations to come, that’s why I’m writing to you at this deeply important time—as a mom—to advocate for paid leave.

“Over the past 20 months, the pandemic has exposed long-existing fault lines in our communities. At an alarming rate, millions of women dropped out of the workforce, staying home with their kids as schools and daycares were closed, and looking after loved ones full-time. The working mom or parent is facing the conflict of being present or being paid. The sacrifice of either comes at a great cost,” she continued.

Meghan recalled growing up “on the $4.99 salad bar at Sizzler” as it was all her family could afford, as well as when she entered the workforce herself and struggled to make “enough to pay my rent and put gas in my car.”

She also acknowledged that she and Harry, 37, have been fortunate enough to have time and resources to devote to son Archie Harrison, 2, and 4-month-old daughter Lilibet Diana.
“Paid leave should be a national right, rather than a patchwork option limited to those whose employers have policies in place, or those who live in one of the few states where a leave program exists,” Meghan added. “If we’re going to create a new era of family first policies, let’s make sure that includes a strong paid leave program for every American that’s guaranteed, accessible, and encouraged without stigma or penalty.”

Her fight for paid leave comes as part of her 40×40 challenge, “a global effort encouraging people around the world to commit to giving 40 minutes of their time to support women going back to work,” which she launched on her 40th birthday in August.

Pete Buttigieg & Husband Chasten's 2-Month-Old Son Gus Spends First Halloween in Hospital!
Pete Buttigieg and his family are spending Halloween in the hospital. On Sunday (October 31), the 39-year-old U.S. Transportation Secretary’s husband Chasten Buttigieg took to social media to mark their first Halloween as parents to 2-month-old twins – son Joseph August, who they’re calling Gus, and daughter Penelope Rose.
“Happy Halloween from these #twinfrastructure safety advocates! 🎃🚗 🚧🚸,” Chasten, 32, wrote on Instagram along with photos of their twins dressed up as orange traffic cons, a nod Pete‘s mission to pass the nation’s infrastructure bill.
Chasten then went on to reveal that Gus “has been having a rough go,” and that why they’re at the hospital.

“As you can see, we’re spending this Halloween in the hospital. Gus has been having a rough go of it but we’re headed in the right direction,” Chasten continued. “We’re so thankful for all of the love and support shown to our family these last few months. And also, for the dedicated and kind medical professionals who have helped take care of our two little pumpkins as they’ve grown stronger, healthier, and cuter.”
