Willow Smith's Rock Revival Interview and Valentino Fashion Story in V Magazine!

American singer, rapper, actor, dancer and songwriter Willow Smith is interviewed by Dania Curvy, digital editor at V Magazine and VMAN about forging the path for Black women in punk rock. Willow is styled by Nicola Formichetti in Valentino’s Roman Palazzo Collection and Cartier’s emblematic hardware.

Photographed by Domen / Van de Velde [IG], the multi-hyphenate creative blasts through the “lazy stereotype that associates Black female singers with R&B and soul”, making it clear that Black women  intend to stay strong in a punk rock music genre dominated by white men.

V Magazine is quick to remind us that Smith’s mother Jada Pinkett Smith was the lead singer in a punk rock band Wicked Wisdom. Smith introduced Willow to Tennessee-based metal band Straight Line Stitch, led by a Black woman, Alexis Brown, now Alexis White.

Willow Smith was “super young’ age when ‘Whip My Hair’, her debut single released by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation came out in 2010.  "I feel like I lost my sanity at one point," Smith said in 2018 of the time surrounding her song's release. "I had just stopped doing singing lessons and I was kind of just in this gray area of 'Who am I? Do I have a purpose? Is there anything I can do besides this?' "

In the 2018 interview words of Willow’s father Will Smith: “Willow was really the first person during 'Whip My Hair' that decided she didn’t want to do what I said . . . Because she was the baby girl, she really had the most power over me. As a man – if your daughter says no, there’s

really nothing you can do.”

Zaila Avant-garde becomes first African American to win Scripps Spelling Bee!

Zaila Avant-garde, a 14-year-old eighth grader from Harvey, La., smiled and twirled her way to the 2021 Scripps National Spelling Bee championship Thursday, becoming the first African American winner in the spelling competition's 96-year history, and the second Black champion ever following Jamaican-born Jody Anne-Maxwell's win in 1998.

According to Zaila, even though she practiced for the competition seven hours a day, spelling is just her side hobby. The new spelling bee champ is also a basketball prodigy, who holds three basketball-related Guinness World Records, hopes to attend Harvard, play in the WNBA and maybe even become an NBA coach one day. That is if she doesn't end up becoming a NASA scientist.

Zaila's winning word was "murraya," which is a type of tree, and, before her big win, she made a Bill Murray joke, which stole the hearts of many viewers across the country, who took to Twitter calling her "a boss."

"Murraya. Does this word contain, like, the English name 'Murray,' which could be the name of a comedian," asked Zaila. The moderator laughed before saying, "Bill Murray made the spelling bee."

Meanwhile, other viewers took to Twitter Thursday praising Zaila for her confidence and for being the queen that she is:

Following her win, when asked what she attributes her early success in the competition to, Zaila responded, "Well, for one thing, I didn't have any more time to succeed," referring to the fact that it was her last year for eligibility. Turns out, not only is Zaila incredibly smart and talented, she's also a bit of a comedian herself.

On how she felt about winning the 2021 Scripps National Spelling Bee, Zaila stated, "Really good. I mean, I was a bit surprised. I've been warned about the confetti."

#RHOA: Shamari DeVoe Says She Quit ‘RHOA’ Due to Poor Editing!

Shamari DeVoe only appeared on RHOA for one season but the Blaque singer made quite an impression on viewers. Fans loved her spunk and her fearlessness in going at it with the cast and were shocked to discover she would not be returning. DeVoe says poor editing contributed to her not signing on for another season of Housewives.

DeVoe appeared on Season 11 of the show. It was her first and last season. She says the reason she opted to not return was due to the way she was edited. Fans remember her having a little too much to drink in a few episodes, and she says that was portrayed wrong.

“But they wanted to show me with my lil wine and make it seem like I’m just this drunk or whatever,” she tells The Jasmine Brand in a recent interview. “But that’s not me–there’s a balance. Like they didn’t show the fact that I was doing the Married 4 Life Walk, that I was helping people come together, and the thing about [me drinking on camera is] I hadn’t drank in like 2 years because I was pregnant with the boys, I was breastfeeding. When I got on [RHOA] they [were] just shoving drinks at [me] left and right… So I’m like ‘Okay cool, I can finally get away from the twins’…[The drinks] went straight to the head.”

DeVoe says she holds no ill will. “But I love all of the ladies on the show, and I love them and I wish them well,” she says, despite having drama with Marlo Hampton during her stint on the show. “And I’m not saying I would never go back to [RHOA] or anything like that, but it just has to be right for me and my family… [The editing] got to the point where my mother was saying ‘Shamari, [why] are you drinking so much? Are you an alcoholic?’”

The singer is open to having her own reality show

Though her experience on RHOA is not necessarily her fondest memory, DeVoe is not opposed to reality television overall. The wife and mother of two says she’d love something centered on her family.

“I would love [a family show],” she says. “I would do that. Like I would sign a contract today. I would do that–I already have the name. It’s called DeVoeted. It’s going down–like seriously, I would do that in a heartbeat. I’m so big on family–I love my family, and I want the world to see the ups and downs in marriages and how difficult it is raising toddlers when you’re a geriatric mom and a geriatric dad. My husband is 53, [and] he doesn’t have any other kids–these are his first kids. So it’s like ‘Man, your energy isn’t all of that.’ It’s hilarious. If y’all was a fly on the wall in our house, y’all would be cracking up laughing at everything that happens in here.”

DeVoe is currently starring on BET Presents: The ENCORE. The show follows DeVoe and eight other singers from prominent girl groups who live in a house for 30 days, record an album, and prepare for a major performance as a supergroup.

ENCORE airs on BET every Wednesday at 10 pm EST.

She recently stopped by The Breakfast Club to expound on her motivation for going back into the studio. She said that after being terrorized by the coronavirus and then seeing the murder of George Floyd and all the Black-on-Black gun violence around the nation, she knew her writing partner Marcus Malone was on to something, and they had to write and record some balms for our people. In addition to releasing a new song, Mills also released a vibrantly beautiful visual. The video opens with drone footage of a Black Lives Matter mural on a city street and chants of the impassioned interjection. It cuts to a church with an artist painting, as Stephanie steps into the frame dressed to the nines in a beautiful orange dress with gold Wonder Woman bangles and hair like a crown of reddish orange fire.

She interacts with artists while singing that we as Black people need to stop the hate and start lifting one another up, “We need to do the right thing / There’s so much at stake / A world full of hate is so hard to take.” The video ends with a nod to Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing cutting to ariel footage of Ms. Mills next to a colorful sidewalk painting of her song title as a message about the importance of art to the Black Lives Matter movement crawls up the screen. “The paintings may fade, but the movement does not.”

As outside continues to open back up, we look forward to seeing Stephanie Mills perform her music new live. We definitely plan to be in the house on September 2nd for D-Nice's Club Quarantine Live At BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn. Spice Adams is hosting, and Ms. Mills will be

Sharon Stone, At 63, Is ‘hanging out’ with 25-year-old rapper RMR!

“Basic Instinct” icon Sharon Stone is sparking dating rumors with RMR — a rapper less than half her age. Sharon Stone, 63, wows in white on Elle Spain cover

Page Six spies have spotted Stone, 63, and RMR, 25, on dates together all over LA.

Last week, they hit up hotspots Delilah and The Highlight Room, where they were seen dancing to hip-hop music.

“She’s definitely having a hot girl summer,” a source told Page Six. “They were together hanging out with Drake’s [artist] PND, and they were canoodling and popping bottles.

“They were dancing to hip-hop. Chris Brown was also there.”

RMR, a burgeoning artist, who protects his identity by wearing a ski mask and gold grills on his teeth, “respects her and thinks she’s cool as f–k,” according to an insider, who says they have been spending the last few months together.

The source added that he’s a huge fan of Stone’s 1995 mobster film, “Casino.”

“They’re enjoying each other’s company right now and hanging out. They’re having a great time together,” they added.

The “Dealer” rapper even got Stone to don one of his signature ski masks in the club.

“They’re on the same frequency and it’s a very unique friendship,” the source said.

Their “unique friendship” has spilled over to Instagram, with him liking several of the actress’s photos — including one of her painting watercolors — while she has been supporting his career updates.

“Can’t wait to see all you Rascals at my shows, and everyone else … Doing a US & Canada tour,” he captioned a video post last month, which Stone commented on with an applause emoji.

RMR has been regularly out on Hollywood’s music scene but guards his real identity and his real name isn’t known.

A rep for RMR did not comment and the chief of staff for Stone’s company did not get back to us.

Stone responded to us and said, “No comment.”

Stone has been open about her love life in recent years. She was kicked off the dating app Bumble in 2019 after some users apparently reported her account as a fake. She tweeted that she logged into the app to cruise for dates only to discover that her account had been shut down.

“I went on the @bumble dating sight [sic] and they closed my account,” Stone wrote. “Some users reported that it couldn’t possibly be me!”

The star of “The Quick and the Dead,” who divorced newspaper editor Phil Bronstein in 2004, joked that the app was discriminating against A-list actresses, tweeting, “Hey @bumble, is being me exclusionary?  Don’t shut me out of the hive.”

Mariah Carey Settles $3M Lawsuit Against Ex-Assistant!

Mariah Carey has settled the lawsuit against her former assistant who was accused by artist of attempting to blackmail her with secretly-recorded videos.

via: Page Six: Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Andrew Borrok closed out the 2019 lawsuit that the “Fantasy” singer brought against her former assistant Lianna “Azarian” Shakhnazarian by simply writing, “Case settled,” according to a decision from Wednesday.

The terms of the settlement were not made public and Carey’s lawyer declined to comment. Shakhnazarian’s lawyers did not immediately return a request for comment.

The “Always Be My Baby” crooner claimed Shaknazarian — who was canned in 2017 — secretly recorded embarrassing “personal activities” and in some cases “intimate” videos of her and then threatened to release them if the pop star didn’t give her $8 million.

Carey also claimed Shakhnazarian violated a non-disclosure agreement that she signed when she was hired in 2015.

In September, Borrok sided with the 51-year-old songstress when he sanctioned Shakhnazarian for destroying two videos, WhatsApp messages and an old cellphone that all could have helped Carey in her case. Shakhnazarian’s appeal of that ruling is still pending.

Secretly recording someone and blackmail sounds illegal, the former assistant is lucky all she got was sued.

Cops Called To Rihanna’s LA-Area Home For An Intruder!

According to law enforcement sources, one of Rihanna’s Los Angeles-area homes was the subject of an unwanted guest last week.

TMZ reports that officers were called to one of the singer’s houses for reports of a trespasser on the grounds at about 7 a.m. RiRi’s security guards called the police after seeing a man hop over one of the property’s perimeter walls.

Police officers showed up with lights and sirens blaring, but the person had left by the time they arrived. The arriving officers took down a report, and the incident is under investigation.

Although Rihanna owns the house, the outlet reports that she was not home when the intruder moved onto the property. The singer does not personally live there. The house is used as a rental property.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time Rihanna has had an unwanted intruder. This has happened to her several times over the years.

Haiti President Jovenel Moïse Assassinated; Police Kill 4 Suspects, Arrest 2 Others!

Haiti President Jovenel Moïse has been assassinated at home. A squad of gunmen assassinated Haitian President Jovenel Moïse and wounded his wife in an overnight raid on their home Wednesday, with police killing four suspects and arresting two others hours later amid growing chaos in a country already enduring gang violence and protests of his increasingly authoritarian rule.

Three police officers held hostage by the suspected gunmen were freed late Wednesday, said Léon Charles, chief of Haiti’s National Police.

Interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph said the police and military were in control of security in Haiti, the poorest country in the Americas where a history of dictatorship and political upheaval have long stymied the consolidation of democratic rule.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Joseph called for an international investigation into the assassination, said that elections scheduled for later this year should be held and pledged to work with Moïse’s allies and opponents alike.

“We need every single one to move the country forward,” Joseph said. He alluded to enemies of the president, describing him as ″a man of courage″ who had opposed ″some oligarchs in the country, and we believe those things are not without consequences.″

Despite Joseph’s assurances that order would prevail, there was confusion about who should take control and widespread anxiety among Haitians. Authorities declared a “state of siege” in the country and closed the international airport.

The normally bustling streets of the capital, Port-au-Prince, were empty Wednesday. Sporadic gunshots were heard in the distance, public transportation was scarce, and some people searched for businesses that were open for food and water.

Bocchit Edmond, the Haitian ambassador to the United States, said the attack on the 53-year-old Moïse “was carried out by foreign mercenaries and professional killers — well-orchestrated,” and that they were masquerading as agents of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The DEA has an office in the Haitian capital to assist the government in counternarcotics programs, according to the U.S. Embassy.

Joseph said the heavily armed gunmen spoke Spanish or English, but gave no further details.

Moïse’s wife, Martine, was in stable but critical condition and was being moved to Miami for treatment, Edmond said in Washington.

Haiti has asked the U.S. government for assistance with the investigation, he said, adding that the assassins could have escaped over the land border to the Dominican Republic or by sea.

The Dominican Republic said it was closing the border and reinforcing security in the area, describing the frontier as ″completely calm.″

The Dominican Republic said it was closing the border and reinforcing security in the area, describing the frontier as ″completely calm.″

Haiti appeared to be heading for fresh volatility ahead of general elections later this year. Moïse had been ruling by decree for more than a year after failing to hold elections, and the opposition demanded he step down in recent months, saying he was leading it toward yet another grim period of authoritarianism.

It was a testament to Haiti’s fragile political situation that Joseph, a protege of Moïse who was only supposed to be prime minster temporarily, found himself in charge.

But Haiti appears to have few other options. The Supreme Court’s chief justice, who might be expected to help provide stability in a crisis, died recently of Covid-19.

The main opposition parties said they were greatly dismayed about the killing.

“In this painful circumstance, the political forces of the opposition condemn with utmost rigor this heinous crime that is at odds with democratic principles,” their statement said.

The parties added that they hope the National Police will take all necessary measures to protect lives and property, and they called on Haitians to be “extremely vigilant.”

Joseph is likely to lead Haiti for now, though that could change in a nation where constitutional provisions have been erratically observed, said Alex Dupuy, a Haiti-born sociologist at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.

The best scenario would be for the acting prime minister and opposition parties to come together and hold elections,

Nick Cannon Says He's Had All 7 of His Kids 'on Purpose,' Jokes He's 'Like a Seahorse Out Here'!

Nick Cannon is speaking out about being a father to multiple children.

On his Power 106 Los Angeles radio show Wednesday, The Masked Singer host, 40, said he's been "having these kids on purpose" after City Girls rapper JT advised him to "wrap it up," a nod to using a condom when having sex.

"I don't have no accident," said Cannon, who appears to have become a dad to his seventh child, his fourth baby in a year, with model Alyssa Scott. The new mom, who appeared to confirm that she was expecting a son with Cannon on Father's Day when she shared a photo of him and her baby bump, and she recently announced that she welcomed her baby boy on June 23.

"Trust me there's a lot of people that I could've gotten pregnant that I didn't," Cannon said on Wednesday. "The ones that got pregnant are the ones that were supposed to get pregnant."

Earlier in the show, Cannon compared his pattern of welcoming offspring to that of a seahorse, saying, "I'm like a seahorse out here. That's just the way I'm procreating."

Cannon previously welcomed twin sons, Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir, with Abby De La Rosa on June 14. Additionally, he welcomed daughter Powerful Queen in December with Brittany Bell, with whom he also shares 4-year-old son Golden "Sagon."

He also shares 10-year-old twins, son Moroccan and daughter Monroe, with ex-wife Mariah Carey, 51.

Last Saturday, Scott announced the birth of her baby boy with a trio of black-and-white photos on Instagram, two of which showed her cradling the newborn in her arms. "I will love you for eternity," she captioned the images.

On her Instagram Story she also shared a sweet mother-son photo, which she captioned with the newborn's name, Zen, alongside a heart emoji.

In honor of Father's Day last month, Scott appeared to share a tribute in honor of Cannon. The model shared a maternity photo, and while Cannon's face could not be seen completely in the image she shared, the man's tattoos are noticeably consistent with the Wild 'N Out star.

"Celebrating you today," she wrote to Cannon, posting the photo on her Instagram Story.

The pregnancy news came after Scott all but confirmed that Cannon is her baby's father in a since-deleted maternity photo she posted last month, which she captioned with their son's name, Zen S. Cannon.

Gary Owen's Ex-Wife Names His Alleged Mistress, Says He Paid for Escorts!

Comedian Gary Owen's ex-wife Kenya Duke took to social media with yet another scathing rant about her former husband.

This time, Duke is accusing the comedian of paying for escorts, having a mistress, and even called out the suspected mistress in an Instagram post.

"@_itsbribri_ I know, who you Brianna Johnson, a nurse at Memorial Hermann Health. You definitely know who I am," wrote Kenya. "You didn't care @garyownecomedy was/is married and you don't seem to care he still hasn't seen his kids (which is weird because you are a baby mama)."

"He doesn't financially support his wife," she continued. "Although, he has sent me Zero money (from a company i help build) I am still paying his bills." Kenya asked the woman if she enjoyed "the Bahamas and Florida," asserting that "Brianna" was on vacation with Owen "spending our family money."

"Lawyer up, you have now become a big part of this divorce," Kenya added. "Gurl, Can't wait to see that tan [bikini emoji] in court. BTW ...your friends don't like you. They out here spilling all your cheating tea."

Although it’s unclear what prompted Maluma and Scott’s feud, it’s rumored that they’re working on an upcoming music video together.

On July 5, The Algemeiner Journal reported Israeli model Eden Fines, as well as the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, will be featured in a new music video for the Papi Juancho artist. According to the outlet, Eden flew to Miami in June to film scenes for the project and will play a woman who is in a love triangle with the 27-year-old singer and the 38-year-old star.

While the Latin superstar and reality TV personality have yet to publicly confirm the speculation surrounding the music video, they did hang out in the Florida city recently.

Back in May, Scott shared a candid photo of him and Maluma’s fun-filled outing, in which they actually spent time together in March. He captioned his Instagram post, “Missin miami.”

“Miss u too,” the singer commented, with Scott’s girlfriend Amelia Hamlin cheekily replying, “papi juancho.”

At the time, Maluma and Scott stepped out with the 20-year-old model and other friends for a night out at David Grutman‘s Papi Steak in South Beach. By April, they were all back in Miami to celebrate the grand opening of the Goodtime Hotel, hosted by co-owners Pharrell Williams and David. Kim Kardashian even joined in on the fun and posed with the “Parce” singer for the special occasion.

Search And Rescue Efforts At Surfside Condo Will Convert To Recovery Operation At Midnight!

Search and rescue efforts at the collapsed Surfside condo in Florida have been converted to a recovery operation.

“Our team has developed a very detailed plan to guide the transition and to ensure that the operations proceed at the same speed and intensity,” Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said at a news conference Wednesday.

The transition will become official at midnight, the mayor said. The death toll now stands at 54, with 86 people still unaccounted for, CNN reports.

Miami-Dade County fire officials said several factors were considered before reaching the decision. Those factors include the collapse itself, medical reasons, and the fact that there has been no sign of survivors.

Miami-Dade Assistant Fire Chief Ray Jadallah told families at a private briefing Wednesday that the rescue crews would continue to search through the debris for the bodies of their family members.

“Our sole responsibility at this point is to bring closure,” he said, according to NBC Miami.

Champlain Towers South partially collapsed on June 24 during the early morning hours. The rest of the building was brought down on Sunday, ahead of tropical storm Elsa.

Officials had hoped that with access to new sections of debris, more survivors would be located. However, it aided rescue workers in finding more deceased victims.

Travis Scott And Meek Mill’s Beef In The Hamptons!!

The beef between rappers is common, but one we didn’t expect is that of Kylie’s baby daddy, Travis Scott, and Nicky Minaj’s ex, Meek Mill.

To celebrate the fourth of July, multiple stars of showbiz attended Michael Rubin’s bash in the Hamptons, including A-list celebrities like Jay Z, Jon Bon Jovi and more.

The party however reportedly ended with a fight between the rappers Travis Scott and Meek Mill.

According to Page Six, Travis Scott and Meek Mill got into a fight around 1:30 am, causing a huge scene outside the ritzy Hamptons party.

The 29-year-old rapper from Houston and the 34-year-old rapper from South Philadelphia seemingly got into an aggressive verbal fight but were pulled away from each other before things escalated.

As Page Six reports, Meek Mill was thrown into a rage by the confrontation and could be heard yelling at Travis Scott even when they were no longer nearby.

The reason behind their fight remains unknown as the two don’t have any past beef with each other.

Page Six claims that there is also a video of the scene for the “White Party”, but it hasn’t been revealed and reps for rappers haven’t commented on the matter.

As soon as the Page Six news hit Twitter, users started sharing their thoughts in their unique sarcastic way, as fans find the beef between the two rappers funny and nothing serious.

Jada Pinkett Smith remembers passing out from bad ecstasy on set of ‘The Nutty Professor’!

Although they can be glamorized, when it comes down to it, drugs and alcohol can be pretty dangerous. That’s a thought Jada Pinkett Smith reflects on in the latest episode of “Red Table Talk.”

Speaking with her mother Adrienne and her daughter Willow for a Wednesday (July 7) episode of the show, Jada remembers a time where some bad ecstasy made her pass out while on the set of The Nutty Professor.

“I’m a binger. … When it’s time to go, we gon’ go,” Jada says, reflecting on her partying habits. “I wasn’t the type of person that was drinking every day. I was a weekend party girl. It was like, yo, Thursday to Monday morning, I would go.”

Those habits one day bled into her work life. “That was an eye-opening incident for me, as well,” Jada says. “I had one incident on Nutty Professor. I passed out [in the] makeup trailer. I passed out. I went to work high and it was a bad batch of ecstasy and I passed out. And I told everybody that I … must have had old medication in a vitamin bottle.”

While the ecstasy didn’t disrupt her work plans too much, it clearly stands out as an important memory for Jada. Her story is part of a larger conversation about drug and alcohol abuse.

Jada Pinkett Smith shares never-before-seen poem by Tupac for his 50th birthday

At another point of the episode, Jada remembers a time she realized that she was drinking too much. She also speaks on the way she tries to avoid hard liquor. For her part, Willow explains the way she manages her own weed intake. The show hosts also have a liver specialist speak on the harmful effects alcohol can have on your body.

You can watch the latest episode of Red Table Talk for yourself HERE Jada’s story about the bad ecstasy comes in at the 4:40 mark.

Diplo Accused Of Filming Coerced Sex Act In Lawsuit Lawyer Calls ‘Shakedown’: Report!

Diplo is being accused in a lawsuit of coercing a drunk woman into giving him oral sex and filming the encounter, but a lawyer for the producer dismissed the claims as a “shakedown.”

The plaintiff filed the suit in Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming she and her friends partied with Diplo after a Las Vegas gig in 2019, according to a Wednesday TMZ report.

She claims the DJ plied them with weed and alcohol, and then invited her into his private room as bouncers kicked everyone else out — including a male friend who was allegedly punched in the face by the security team for refusing to leave her alone with the artist, the article said.

The woman said Diplo, whose real name is Thomas Pentz, then told her she couldn’t leave until she performed a sex act, according to the report.

The woman said she gave in to his alleged demands, and claimed the 42-year-old filmed the coerced encounter without her consent, the article said, citing court papers.

Attorney Bryan Freedman told the outlet the woman is connected to a former flame of Diplo, who accused him of sexual battery, assault and defamation in a prior lawsuit.

“This complaint is completely outrageous, wildly untrue and yet also entirely predictable, given that it simply repeats the exact same claim already made by the plaintiff’s friend Shelly Auguste, an individual who has been harassing Mr. Pentz and his family for more than a year and already has repeatedly violated the restraining order issued against her,” Freedman reportedly said.

“We have irrefutable evidence that this is a completely meritless claim and we will be providing it to a court as quickly as we possibly can to put an end to this shakedown by Ms. Auguste and her accomplices once and for all.”
